petergaryr 01-03-08, 10:23 PM Just finished watching the pilot which I had DVR'd. Nice that they are showing it in HD.
bicker1 01-04-08, 07:40 AM Note that it isn't the pilot. Apparently, the pilot was made up of two episodes of JAG, the season before NCIS premiered. I liked the series premiere, but feel like I was missing some critical insight into the characters that perhaps I would have had if I had seen the pilot.
All told, after watching the series premieres of NCIS, Cold Case, Without a Trace and Monk, all in second-run since we missed them in first run, we should be okay this winter and spring, even with the writers' strike. We like them in that order (NCIS, Cold Case, Without a Trace and Monk). (We also started watching second-run episodes of Las Vegas, but it's currently at the end of Season 2, so those we aren't watching from the beginning. Still, I think I like Las Vegas better than Without a Trace.)
YoungC55 01-04-08, 08:51 AM Awesome stuff, I wish E* carried USA-HD.
I love Kate :p

That right, now I remember. It was a JAG episode that introduced NCIS. I remember them "dressing Abby to look less Goth" when she took the stand. That was a hoot!

Program note: the two JAG episodes that acted as the NCIS pilot, "Ice Queen" and "Meltdown," will play March 26, starting at 7:00 AM EDT, on USA. They are not flagged as HD in the guide.

Thanks for the heads up, last time they showed those two episodes, my DVR flaked out and what I got wasn't worth watching. :(
gjvrieze 03-17-08, 02:05 PM I hope Charter adds USAHD soon, as I would love to have all of NCIS recorded in HD....

Thanks for the heads-up on the pilot.

Well, while I'm hoping for an HD version, I've still got the DVR set to record the two JAG episodes. It has been so long ago that I've seen them, I can't really remember who was on the NCIS team at the time besides Gibbs and Abby.

Oh you're funny. Charter? Only if Universal gives it to them for free.
I pigged out on NCIS recordings last night including the two pilots crossed over to JAG and the late episode from NCIS shown at 9PM Tuesday night. Agent Blackadder was the only total surprise, I didn't remember her at all. I guess Gibbs shipped her back to the FBI after her lapse in the attempt to capture the terrorists on the boat.
I bought season one on DVD last week and need to look at those shows compared to the DVDs I made from the HD recordings off USA. I predict that the factory made 480i widescreen versions will beat out the 480i downrezed version I made not to mention the commercials.

Last night I watched an episode recorded a while back and it was HD. I don't know if they are all that way,
petergaryr 03-27-08, 10:49 AM Well, the two JAG "pilot" episodes for NCIS last night were in SD. Funny, though, some of the commercials were in HD.
It's been so long that I don't remember when JAG started filming in HD. I know the last season or two on CBS were.
It was funny seeing the original NCIS team, and how much they carried over to the actual series. The only obvious thing (other than agent Blackadder), was the view from the "soul's" point of view. Glad they dropped that aspect. Now it's just Ducky talking to himself. :)

Watched an episode of what recorded a while back? As far as I know all the NCIS eps on USA have been in HD, and as far as I know all the JAG eps have been in SD, I do remember watching the series finale of JAG a few months back on USA and it was in SD then.
Any body else notice that Singer's body was wearing her class ring which never showed up in the story line. No ID no personal effects, nada. I couldn't tell whether it was from Annapolis or somewhere else.
These weekend marathons are hard on the DVR running twelve or so contiguous episodes. Almost an overload ..almost.
