Moved thread into FP area due to lack of response (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=969896).
Sorry for the double post, I could not find a place to delete this thread.
I have just finished a marathon of searching and reading threads concerning long HDMI runs and product recommendations. I think I have narrowed it down to a few options and would like some opinions as to which one would best work for my situation.
I currently have a AE100 FP (not a typo :o) which is ceiling mounted. I am looking at upgrading to the AE2000. I need about 30-40' of cable to go from FP to receiver (leaning towards Onkyo 875). The receiver will be doing my upconverting (as needed) as well as video/audio switcher. I currently have a 30' VGA cable that feeds my FP.
Components (current & future):
- Panasonic PT-AE2000U (1080p) (near future)
- Motorola HDPVR 6416 cablebox (1080i)
- SD DVD player (480p)
- Onkyo TX-SR875 Receiver (near future)
- Wii, xbox
- High Def DVD Source (PS3? - not so near future)
One continuous run option (no port saver)
1.) 35' or 40'
a.) MonoPrice High-Quality 22AWG HDMI Male to Male Cables or (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240).
b.) Blue Jeans BJC Series-1 Belden Bonded-Pair HDMI Cables (http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm) or
c.) Blue Jeans BJC Series-2 HDMI Cables (http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm).
Making the assumption the cable would make the 90 deg bend without damaging it.
2.) Considering using two 20' (could also use 15' + 20') cables and one port saver.
a.) MonoPrice High-Quality 22AWG HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Male to Male Cables (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024002&p_id=2805&seq=1&format=2) or
b.) Blue Jeans BJC Series-1 Belden Bonded-Pair HDMI Cables (http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm) or
c.) Blue Jeans BJC Series-2 HDMI Cables
plus a port saver (MonoPrice HDMI Cable male to female 28AWG Port Saver - 8 inches (Gold-Plated) (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024010&p_id=2891&seq=1&format=2)). I read in another post there should not be any "concerns/issues" going from 22AWG to 28AWG and back to 22AWG.
3.) Plus three 3' cables to connect components to receiver.
a.) MonoPrice HDMI 1.3a CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 3ft (Gold Plated) (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024003&p_id=3991&seq=1&format=2) or
b.) MonoPrice 28AWG HDMI 1.3a Male to Male Cables (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024007&p_id=3871&seq=1&format=2) or
c.) Blue Jeans Tartan Cable 24 AWG HDMI Cables (http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm)
During my "research" I am still a little confused about 1.3a HDMI and I want to make sure using any of the above options / combinations would work fine with the set up I described.
One last thing, I don't have a lot of room in my equipment rack and would like to know if I could potentially run into any issues with the 90 deg MonoPrice HDMI Port Saver (Male to Female) (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041907&p_id=3733&seq=1&format=2).
Cheers
