So I went around shopping last weekend for a good price on the Mits 4900. The $500 rebate from mits put me over the top. I was all set to get it online in the $1500 ranger (AR). One local retailer who does not carry the 4900 offered me the 6000 for $2850.... about 7 or 800 less than the best online price I found... I have not seen the 4900 live, but looking at the specs, I jumped on it. I set up the 6000 the other night and wow.. I am impressed. Its still projecting on the wall, since Carada is building my screen (114") as I type... but Im blown away by the picture.

The two difference I saw beween 4900 and 6000 were 1080p/24 and 2-HDMI 1.3 vs 1.2 ans a dvi.

OPinions? Is it worth the $1300 upgrade? I think so, but no having scene the 4900, I wonder if that $1300 could have went to better sound...

anyway, I love the picture, Blu ray looks 3d, and thats on my painted white wall.... I am sure it will look better on the screen. I do get some reflection off my white side wall. Will he screen help that?

thanks for any opinions.

Bill

Two different price classes. $1400 vs. $2850. Sounds like a good deal but "worth it" is subjective. From reviews I've read, the 6000 will have much better but not class leading contrast and blacks as well as better processing. I'll have my 4900 mounted tonight and I'm going to be able to compare it to my experienc with the AE2000u and VW60, which I've owned but have since sold.

I guess that is a healthy way to look at it.. I love it. movies look great. I enjoy it. Victory is declared.

I really cannot define the difference between 1080p/24 and 1080p/60 or HDMI 1.2 vs. 1.3, but I can write about it in the forums. More wiring and mounting work to do tonight...

I actually had a chance to look at the 4900 a bit today (in poor light) and I think I shored up my feelings.. After living the dark gray (non) blacks from my 720p Panasonic RP LCD for the past 3 years, I am glad to have bhe color black again in movies...

Now where is my screen Mr. Carada?

Thanks for your help.
