Every sub and room is different. My first recommendation is to make sure your subwoofer is set to "yes" on your receiver, your other speakers are set to "small". I would also turn on doublebass and set the decible level to +5 for the sub and set your crossover to 80hz on your receiver.

On the BIC, set the crossover all the way up to the highest number, and the volume to about the halfway point.

Then run the Audyssey EQ setup for your receiver. From there, you can adjust the volume and other settings manually to your liking.

My sub just arrived today via UPS. I ordered it on the 22nd of December, and I got jacked by having 2 holidays and 2 weekends in between. :(

I'm using a Yamaha HTR-5930, so I can't set the crossover using the receiver. Should I start with the 80hz point on the sub as well and go from there, or do you have any further suggestions?

The setup I have now is the same physical layout, except I have two Polk R50's on either side of the TV, and the TV stand is pulled out from the corner somewhat. I had planned on putting the sub back behind it.

Not an ideal setup I know, but I really don't know how else I'd set it up.

I'd thought of that - but I'll have to see if the wifey can live with the connector going around the fireplace...

I'm going to venture under the house tomorrow and scope out some wiring possibilities for the surrounds, and maybe come up with a solution for the sub cable too.

I have my H-100 in the corner behind my TV and it seems fine there. I would try that first to simply your wiring duties.

I've got it stuffed behind the TV now, but that gloss finish is just so darn pretty I'd hate to have it hidden.

And, I have to go under the house to run wires for the surrounds, might as well drill an extra two holes.

My HT consists of:

Onkyo 605
Fronts: Polk Monitor 50's
Center: Polk CS1
Rear: Monitor 30's
Sub: Bic-H100

I ran Audessy on my Onkyo and it set all my speakers to full band. I adjusted them on my own and now have:

Front 50 Hz
Center 50 Hz
Surround 80 Hz
LFE 80 Hz

The level calibration is:
Left +3dB
Center +4 dB
Right +2 dB
Surr Right +1dB
Surr Left -2 dB
Subwoofer 0 dB

Audessy orignally had my sub at -8 dB but I could not feel any presence of it so I changed it.

The crossover on the sub is set all the way as I understand to use the crossover from the reciever. Is this correct because it sounds good but I do not want to damage any of the speakers or sub due to improper setting?

Is there a better way to set up the sub hooked up to an Onkyo 605?

You have my exact setup (except the surrounds, i didn't buy them yet) and my sub will arrive this week. I plan on hooking it up with a cable from monoprice : 25ft Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm (for S/PDIF, Digital Coax, Subwoofer & Composite Video)

I do currently have my center set to 80 hz, and my sides to 60 (when i add the sub to the setup).. my LFE is 120 hz
