How would you set up this basement. I have already moved the laundry room into the utility room to make room for a bar. I was thinking of putting the components under the stairs since there will be access to them from the utility room. The ac vent also runs under the stairs so if I have to put cool air into the component box that wont be a problem. I want to put the theater screen on the wall facing the hallway for two reasons the first light in the afternoon comes down the stairs and there isnt a door, secont I thing it will leave the rest of the basement open for a possible pool table dart board and card table. Right now I have JBL studio speakers monster power refrence center, xbox 360, JVC upscaling DVD what would everyone recomend. I am thinking about a bar that will hold DVD's behind the sectional. I am planing on painting the wall behind the screen black and the rest a sand color. by the way all of the areas except the two bedrooms and the bar are finished. Thanks

You have an excellent basement layout. I would like to see some actual pictures. :)

I like what you have drawn out. I would keep in mind though that if you decide to go w/ a pool table or ping pong table down the road, both require a lot of space! For example, I doubt you could put either of those in the area you have labeled as a rec. room. If that is the case, I would move your viewing location to the rec room and have all the games/fun stuff/etc in the bigger space.

Also, and I've always been curious about this, so this might be a bit rhetorical, but... If one is expecting their A/C to cool their components, what does one do in the wintertime when heat is blowing out?

Anyway, good luck with your upcoming adventure. And please feel free to post some pics of the space.
