View Full Version : What's a Vidikron VP50HD CRT? Can't find info online about it, nor on Curt's site.Pic reio-ta 01-04-08, 05:35 PM . Loudmouse 01-04-08, 07:04 PM May be the same as an ECP 4500. There was one for sale in my area awhile back for $50 but it had some problems. Curt Palme 01-04-08, 07:10 PM Wait wait wait. ALL, and I mean ALL CRT projector specs are overrated as written in my FAQ. The spec you see re: resolution is the max resolution that the CHASSIS will pass, not what the tubes will resolve. Those small 7" ES tubes are best run at 1024 X 768 or 800 X 600 as they age. NautikaL 01-04-08, 08:58 PM The cases on all CRTs are so big, from day one everyone should have figured out how to make them as quiet as a purring sleeping kitten. There are too many components that need localized cooling while not being able to have heatsinks attached to them. Then the inside of a CRT set is generally pretty compact, which leads to lots of air turbulence. Fellenz 01-05-08, 12:00 PM You also have to remember that these machines were designed to run 24/7 in locations where temperatures were a bit high and proper ventilation wasn't always a gaureentee. Now running these projectors in the enviorments we have their is generally less of a need for cooling and we can get away with using slower fans and other tricks to make them quiet. They also didn't need the machines to run quiet so what was the point in spending the extra money to silience them. Erik |
