Reefer to the manual...

Well, there's your problem right there! :D

Seriously... haven't tried it yet myself, but check your cable (is it 'null modem' or 'straight through' - and which does the projector need?) and check whether there's hardware handshaking required or required to be off.

If it's supposed to echo commands back (not sure if the manual says) you could try hooking to it directly with hyperterm to see if there's something alive on the PJ side.

Are you guys having a laugh about my spelling??? I dont see the joke please explain??

Here is a line from the manual

The computer operates in the terminal mode, the projector
operates in the modem mode. The signals to be connected
are TxD, RxD and GND

Will I need a "straigt through" or a "crossed" cable between Tx and Rx??

Klaus, it wasn't meant in a mean way; 'reefer' is a slang term for marijuana in the US, so... yeah, it's not all THAT funny. :p

I don't know WHAT they mean by 'modem mode' ... it's been a while since that kind of control system was normal. Unfortunately I think it's just going to be one of those pound-your-head-on-the-wall problems that'll take time and frustration to figure out, unless you happen to get lucky and find an expert here!

What projector are you using?

It's been a while since I had a Barco, but when I had my 801s I connected it with a "null modem cable" and it worked fine, this same cable also worked on my Marquee

Hope This Helps,

Erik

My software works fine. I assume when you hit F2 and the program initializes it searches through all the addresses and says no projector found? I believe the projectors address has to be 0-9 so 0 should work.

I thought I was using a straight through cable, but I could be wrong. The manual says to use a D9 to D9 communication cable. I also have the service manual which shows the pin out for the serial connection.....but it's all greek to me.

I also use a separate program to control my 1209s via serial commands....works fine.

First thing.....are you sure the serial port on your computer that you are using is working. (Check Device manager.) Also check to see what comm port it is. The barco software will only use comms 1-4.

Second, we need to find out if you have the correct cable.

Third, there is an RS232 in and RS232 out on the projector. I'm assuming you using the correct one. ;)

Sorry I can't be of more help.
