Brewed 01-04-08, 08:43 PM Surely you jest. ddrheretic 01-04-08, 10:22 PM Dayton sub100 or 120 lalakersfan34 01-04-08, 10:47 PM I'd vote for the Velodyne VX-10 as the best all around subwoofer for less than $150. caunyd 01-05-08, 02:52 AM Thanks for the responses. Anymore recommendations? mailiang 01-05-08, 11:53 AM I'd vote for the Velodyne VX-10 as the best all around subwoofer for less than $150. I agree. For a smaller room (2000^3) or less the Velo will give you the best performance for under $200.00. It's virtually the same sub as the $249.00(street price) VRP1000 with a different finish. I recently found this link, which is a review from an HTF member. I'm not sure when or where it was originally posted, but his results after calibration were very similar to mine. Now I'm running two and getting plenty of smooth output down to 25hz in my 1800^3 den. http://www.aoqc93.dsl.pipex.com/review.html Ian PengyTeK 01-05-08, 11:14 PM I just got the Dayton sub-100 the other day. If you're going to use the sub for home theatre purposes only (movies) I'd say go for it. However, if you were going to use it for music I'd probably stay away from it. I find the bass to be too boomy (as many others have) for music applications. I'm going to return to it Parts Express and go buy a VX-10 instead. lalakersfan34 01-06-08, 01:34 AM I too have a VX-10 and while it won't knock your socks off with power, it has more than enough output for a small room under normal listening conditions. I also have found that IMO it is by far the best subwoofer under $150 with music - it isn't boomy like most inexpensive subwoofers. I think you'll find it much better than the Dayton for music. mailiang 01-06-08, 12:33 PM If you do plan get the VX10, whom ever you buy it from, make sure that their stock is new. They recently improved the input sensitivity on the amp and since I have an older and newer version, I have found that the newer one's auto-on function is quicker. It's also easier to calibrate and produces a bit more output as well. Ian dpnaugle 01-06-08, 01:46 PM 100-150 is pretty tight. Have you searched on craigslist? Or Maybe friends that have an extra sub to sell/ borrow indefinitely :) The velodyne VX-10 +1 caunyd 01-07-08, 02:26 PM $150 is tight, but it seems like there are still quality choices at this range. Any other recommendations besides the Dayton and the Velodyne VX-10 ? Thanks a lot guys. |
