OK. I remember having read some threads that other people had fuses blow on their IF 7200s/7210s and had replaced on their own. I did a few searches and couldn't find the threads, so I'll start this one in hopes of getting a response from one of those folks.

My IF 7200 worked fine one morning and then was totally unresponsive that evening. No power, no lights, no fans. I want to check the fuse on the PCB but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the darn case open. I found 4 star-head screws (2 on bottom; 2 on back) and case almost opens, but is stuck tight at the front (along the handle). Can anyone tell me how to get this case open? Any pictures would be much appreciated (not necessarily taking the projector apart, but at least where the attachment points are). Thanks.

I had a local shop look at it. They said they got the power supply working (funny, it didn't work when I retrieved it) but wanted ~$1K to have the light engine rebuilt. Anyone else have to go through a light engine repair? How much was it? Did you use local repair shop or InFocus recommended service?

Some pics I had taken of my 7210 for a different purpose. It's not a deconstruction guide, but gives you a visual.

Yeah, once you get the screws undone, you have to dismantle the handle. The outside of the handle is a piece of plastic (with the IR cover on it) which hooks into the handle edges of the top and bottom shells. It is what locks the top and bottom shells together at the handle. You just have to carefully pry it out. It just little plastic tabs on the piece, so go carefully, but you have to get pretty forceful with it.

If you look at the far right of the top shell in the 871 pic, you'll see a little plastic tab sticking down. Get those unhooked (there's one on the left end too) and you can start to pry the upper and lower shells apart enough that the plastic handle cover piece slips out fine for all but one of the upper prongs, where you just have to show it who's boss. None of the tabs broke for me.

Oh, and you don't have to mess with the IR sensor on the handle because it's mounted to one of the shell halves, not that front piece, which just has a plastic cover.

But don't pull the two shells apart till you deal with the cables for IR and controls which go from the circuitry to the upper cover.

Thanks. That should be a big help.
