Okay, I just want to know how to connect all of these things correctly. So far I've tried connecting:
- PS3>HDTV Via Component(Getting HDMI Cable in a day or 2)

- HDTV>HTIB Via Optical

Unfortunatley, I wasn't able to achive any sound through the HTIB Using those connections; and yes I've tuned the reciever for TV but still no sound.

So far the only way for me to get any sound from TV through HTIB is by using AV audio cables in which I don't want to use. So these are my questions.

1) How should I connect these products so that I may listen to anything through the HTIB only?

2) Why do I only achieve sound using AV audio cables but not digital?

Any help would be very much appreciated and if more info is needed I will be more than gladly to provide so this can be over with.

Well I've got the same receiver hooked up to my ps3 and projector. You could likely do what I do, and I think you'll find it works well.

Connect the ps3 to the receiver using a digital toslink cable. You only have one toslink connection on this receiver, and it'll be better used from the ps3 than the tv. Now connect the ps3 to your display using an HDMI cable.

From the TV to your receiver, I would use good old RCA (red and white) cables and plug it into video 1. You'll still get the sound from your TV running through the speaker system this way. The audio coming from your tv isn't going to be anything that great, so I don't think you lose anything by only using RCA cables.

So to review:
Ps3->TV: HDMI cable (or component until your cable arrives, whatever you have on hand)
Ps3->Receiver: Optical Toslink
Tv->Receiver: RCA connectors

The ps3 will use video 2, and for watching TV, you can use either video 1 or video 2 (depending on which set of RCA inputs you use). If you use the video 2 slot, you won't have to change the input knob hehe.

This should definitely work with your setup, and I hope you enjoy your setup. This isn't the best receiver in the world, but it definately gets the job done :D

Connect the PS3 to the TV with component but leave out the audio and then connect the PS3 with an optical audio cable. Change the audio settings on the PS3 to use the optical and you hsould be good.

I will try both methods;

PROhan Connect the PS3 to the TV with component but leave out the audio and then connect the PS3 with an optical audio cable. Change the audio settings on the PS3 to use the optical and you hsould be good.

- After that, do I connect RCA Cables from TV>Reciever to get surround sound?

Thanks again for the help guys.

P.S. When I was changing the settings for audio output for ps3, I found a "linear PCM 2 CH.88.2 kHz" & "Linear PCM 2 CH. 176.4 kHz" which were both unchecked. Just wondering what those are for and for now I will leave those unchecked unless given the go signal for it.
