Hi,

I posted this in the HTiB section but I think I should've posted in the PS forum, since my problem is only w/ the PS3.

Let me tell you my equipment.

Sharp 32D42U
Samsung HT-X40
Moto HDTV box
PS3
Xbox 360

I want to know the best way to connect my devices together and get no delay.

So the way they are connect is.

Moto Cable Box --- > Component Video to Sharp & RCA to Samsung X40
PS3 -------------- > HDMI to Sharp
Xbox 360 --------- > Component to Sharp

Sharp ------------ > Digital Optical Output to Samsung X40

Since my Samsung X40 is limited to only 2 inputs (RCA & Optical) I chose that route. Now my problem is when I try to play a game or watch a movie on my PS3, I get a delay, a very noticable delay. I've set the setting of the PS3 to use HDMI audio output, but still nothing.

When I tried using an Digital Optical Output cable from my PS3 directly to the X40, I have no delay. But now my Xbox isn't using my Samsung (I expect to get a couple "xbox doesn't deserve surround sound" or "ps3 > xbox" lol).

Can anyone tell me what to do? Or the "correct" way to wire up my system?

Thank you

Your delay is being caused by the tv converting the audio coming in Via HDMI to optical and then sending it to the X40. Its very common for people to do this, and most HTIB have some kind of lip sync feature. It seems as if the X40 isnt one of them. You've found the solution, you are going to have to pick, which system you want surround sound out of. That or get a new AVR, one that does HDMI audio..or has multiple (more than 2) Toslink (optical) inputs
