I'm trying to calibrate my JVC lcd w/ my pioneer dvd player using DVE. First question, does anyone w/ the DV-400V know how I can send below black levels to my LCD? According to DVE, its clipping the signal. Also, when I get to the contrast setting on DVE, I don't really notice any differences when I run up the contrast bar. Is it because of the dvd players own video settings?
The DV-400 is connected to LT-42x688 via HDMI.

[speaking from experiences with the Pioneer DV-600, similar in video to the DV-400]
The player does not send below black through HDMI. The best way to get blacks black,
is to pull up chapter 12-21 (video black) of DVE and lower the brightness
of your LCD until it doesn't get any darker. In a dark room works best.
You need to decrease the Contrast to at least -2 in the player, otherwise
it clips material above reference white (235) on my LCD.
