Hello all,

I just ordered an infocus 7210. I plan to mount it on the ceiling (about 30ft running cable away). My aim is to connect different players/pc etc. to it.

1. From a HDMI source (i.e. DVD player...) to it.
2. From an xbox (with a component output) to it.
3. From other media players with Composite, S-Video, component outputs...
4. From a PC with a DVI graphic card

At the moment, I have 2 component cables, 2 S-Videos, 1 composite running to the Infocus. I would like to install a HDMI cable and a DVI cable to the Infocus. However, it has only 1 M1 port.

Can I use the two followings?

HDMI to M1 cable - 35ft

and

HDMI Female to DVI-D single link female adapter:

With these two, can I connect the HDMI DVD Player to the PJ directly? And then, whenever I would like to connect my PC to the PJ, I just plug the converter between the DVI cable from my PC and the HDMI-M1 cable of the PJ?

I also see another option which is DVI-to-M1 + the HDMI-DVI adapter (above). This option is a bit cheaper. However, I am wondering if the signal of the HDMI-DVI adapter is directional or not? Also, is the quality worse than the previous option (i.e. HDMI-to-M1 cable + HDMI-DVI adapter)?

Thanks for your help!
SV

Hi louthewiz,

thanks very much for the link. It is very helpful.

Does anyone else have had experience to connect M1-to-HDMI, then HDMI-DVI adapter (for DVI-output devices)? How is the quality?

I'm very close to ordering a 2810 and was a little confused about the cables. I'd have only one source (dvd player). Would component cables, then, be ok? Or would another type of cable be better?

OK so I have the InFocus ScreenPlay 7210 and need to connect my Xbox 360 (component), Wii (component), Xbox (component), DirecTV (hdmi) to it. Luckly I have an Onkyo TX-SR604 so I can connect everything to the receiver. The output from the receiver to the projector comes in two varieties:
1. the component out carries all of the component in and
2. the hdmi carries the hdmi (video only).

Now we come to the problem of getting the hdmi into the projector's M1-DA port. My solution was to purchase an HDMI to DVI-D cable (got this 12 footer at circuit city on sale as it was open box for ~$80) and then a DVI-D to M1-DA converter from pccables.com for about $20.

Everything works great!

szafim, I am sure you would saved a few bucks ordering from monoprice, however glad things worked out for you.

Post some screenshots when you are able to take your eyes off the screen ;-)

I have a similar setup with my 7210. I am using the HDMI 2x1 switch from monoprice and the HDMI to M1 cable to the projector. This works well for me. The 2x1 switch is inexpensive and in the future if I have more HDMI/DVI sources I can get a bigger switch. Also, the short HDMI-HDMI or DVI-HDMI cables are also inexpensive.

I also have the same switch and it works really well for such a low price.:D
