Wow! 350012211117 PeriSoft 01-06-08, 10:02 AM I saw that Barco... looks like it projects to a tabletop? That thing would be really cool. Particularly to run tabletop arcade games with MAME! :D MikeEby 01-06-08, 10:12 AM Dang....19% Sales tax for European buyers on the G90. I guess that’s the cost of free heath care. :) Mike deronmoped 01-06-08, 01:35 PM Free Socialized health care:( Deron. PeriSoft 01-06-08, 02:25 PM Free Socialized health care:( Deron. The only difference between Europe and here is that I pay that 20% tax on the G90 every six months anyway in the form of health insurance, but I don't get the G90. Given that we already have 8% sales tax in the US anyway, on average, I figure I'd have to buy about five thousand dollars a month worth of stuff before it's even. If I was rich, this would cost me more. But I am not, and so I am left with less stuff and ****** health insurance. I do not feel blessed. There are many arguments for and against single-payer health care, but tossing out dead-horse ad-hominems is even less useful than it would otherwise be, even when the thread is about table projecting Barcos. My only question is why it's OK to have "socialized roads" and a "socialized army" but not "socialized healthcare"... If your argument is that the government can't do anything right, you'd better quit driving and... err... being free? The health care system has been dismantled BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES in the 2 yrs since Hurricane Katrina. The re-imbursement rate for Drs has fallen to BELOW MEDICARE RATE FOR A PER SERVICE PROCEDURE. Yes, thats correct, Medicare now pays more than private ins companies for the same billing codes. This has been done to make up the Katrina losses for the companies. The health care system is dead, running on momentum from the last 40 yrs only. Think this doesen't concern you??? Wait till you take your child with 104 fever at 3:30 AM to the ER, and the sign says>>>>CLOSED. Well, at least the insurance companies made money. SOCIALIZED MEDICINE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Curt Palme 01-06-08, 07:01 PM Right on Doc! Here we do have socialized healthcare, and GENERALLY it's good, but there's long waits, and when I took my stepson to emergency when he slammed into a tree on his snowboard (he's OK), the emergency ward looked worse than something out of MASH. THe place was really run down, the place supposedly was under 'renovation', but yeah, whatever. The only cool thing was the high res NEC monitor that showed us his Xray, sent over from the computer in the Xray department while we were in emergency. That was cool, the building wasn't antorsae 01-07-08, 01:37 AM Do you actually have to pay VAT for 2nd hand goods? The theory goes that VAT has already been paid for that item by the original buyer upon import or purchase; so unless you want an formal invoice from the auction seller (which if you are an individual doesn't buy you anything as you cannot deduct it, and you get no warranty anyway); there's no point in the invoice. At any rate... I don't think so; at least I've never seen an auction that required VAT payment on 2nd hand goods. |
