My subwoofer works fine under most circumstances except when a DVD I happen to be playing has a lenghty scene with a lot of loud continuous bass (i.e. roar of a jet or waterfall). Such loud scenes will cause the sub to hum. Once this happens I can turn off all other stereo components except the sub yet the hum continues. In fact I can turn off the sub, remove all the input cables and turn the unit back on and the hum continues. If I leave it off for several minute though the hum will be gone after I turn it back on.

This problem never happens under normal conditions such as watching a TV show or even playing music with lots of (non continuous) bass..

Any ideas what could be causing this problem???

More to the puzzle..
I can leave the sub on when it starts to hum (if I can stand the noise) and, as long as it is not being fed more bass the hum will eventually stop. The sub then seems ok for a while. Almost like the strong signal it receivers causes overheat. Once it cools it goes back to normal. That make sense?????
