Previous TV I owned was an inexpensive HD with no hdmi connection. Used component and rca cables and had everything up and running in 10 minutes. Have repeated this scenario at friends houses, etc with no problem.

BUT, I decided to make the splurge and bought a Mits 73 middle of the road DLP, PS3 (for the Blu-ray), Toshiba HD player and Harmon Kardon receiver, 7/1, etc. MISTAKELY thought I could set all of this up using HDMI only and maybe I can......but not so far.

Wondering if I can really use HDMI or if I need to go back to component. The only thing that comes up is the TV/Fios dvr box and it works fine. Blu-ray/Toshiba won't give me audio or video at all.

I bought a 4 port hdmi switch from Monoprice along with (6) of their 6ft cables so plugging all devices into their switch, output to HDMI input of AV receiver and output of receiver to HDMI of Mits. Using a Harmony 890 remote.

I'm sure you need more info but let's start with this and see if anyone else has any ideas. It's been about a month now and I SURE WOULD like to use the DVD players I've purchased!

FYI, I have a buddy with a Mits 65 TV, NEW SONY receiver and has the same problem. Both of us are not experts but not beginners either but neither of us can get our sets to work as they should.

Noticed that the Mits manual says specifically NOT to use HDMI connections on an AV receiver with the TV. Makes no sense to me but I'm starting to believe it........

Thanks

Well, no responses so far. Maybe I'm not as dumb as I thought I was. If anyone can even provide a direction to go, that would be a start. I hate to go to back to componet but may have to.......

not trying to brush you off or anything but you may want to post over in the DLP forum. It really sounds like a display problem. There are some HDMI handshaking issues with certain AVR's and other components.

avs 247 on the HK, wd 73-734 for the Mitsubishi. FYI, I disconnected my HDMI switch last night and plugged the PS3 (Blu-ray) directly into the HK receiver and it worked fine. Will be testing the HD Toshiba player tonight but suspect it will work as well. Again, TV manual says NOT to use its HDMI ports but looks like that is working........if I don't use the Monoprice switch. BUT the monoprice switch works fine if I am just watching TV only......
