I'm going to be getting a BR player some time this yr (either PS3 or standalone)

my question is: I see the 50A3000 as opt audio out and I'm currently using that that with my Sat box back to my SSR. I know that HDMI can do both audio and video over one cable and when I get a BR my only audio option is opt since I don't have a receiver that has HDMI on it.

is the opt out designed for the component and RCA/COAX inputs or does anyone have any knowledge or experience with using HDMI and using the TV's opt out port? right now both opt ports are tied up on my receiver and I'm trying to think of the best solution without getting some type of splitter or external equipment.

found it, I read over it 4x's but never registered.

**from the manual**
Page 12: Digital out (OPTICAL) Connects to the optical audio input of our digital audio equipment that is PCM/Dolby Digital compatible. Dolby Digital Audio signal from the HDMI input will be output as PCM. Dolby Digital Audio signal from digital channels will be output as it is.

Basically the only surround output the optical will give is from the ATSC/QAM
tuner. If you want to use the newer surround formats such as Dolby HD, then
you will need a receiver with HDMI.
