I just built a shelving unit to fit under my projector screen to house about 400 DVDs and my center speaker, and am going to paint/stain it black. I was thinking of putting a film strip (or other HT related object) along the sides, and was wondering if anyone had come across a stencil to that effect.

I found the picture/design I wanted, printed it and my wife purchased stencil paper from an arts & crafts store. She traced the drawing (popcorn container) cut it out and then sponge painted the design on an end table/popcorn stand. I can post pictures tonight if needed. I'm sure you could do the same thing. It all looked easy when she did it.

A few months ago, HGTV repeated an old show in which the designers did a stenciling across the wall and demonstrated some techniques. I think it was a "film festival" theme, but I don't remember the name of the show: Room to Room? The effect was stunning, although the rest of the show was disappointing.
I set my TiVO to record anything with "home theater" in the description. I watch the shows, but often cannot remember the show title. You could try a search on HGTV's site.

Here you go...the stencil image was taken from the lighting fixture on the bottom right of the first pic. It was sponged painted on with silver/grey paint on a black end table
My wife knows how much people like us love spending money on this kind of stuff, and has offered to to make these at a nominal charge...just provide the image ....she is a stay at home mom looking to make her first million. lol

Wow that is really cool! Kudos to your wife! I may just have to take her up on that offer.
Thanks,
