I purchased a TV stand and will be placing the PS3 in it at the rightside of wall. My Toshiba 46RF350U is located in the corner above the fireplace which is in the corner in case you did not follow it location.

The exactly location will be around 2-3 feet from the edge of the diagonal wall of the fireplace. I was wonder if the bluetooth wireless signal is broad enough to receive the signal if the gamer is look at the TV will the PS3 is located around 3 feet away to the right. The game player will be around 7 to 8 feet away from the TV directly and around 6 feet from the TV stand which is to the right of them - but still in front of them only to the rightside. It will be enclosed in glass.

I hope I explain it so you can may an educated guess on it! I do not have a game to test it out and the one I wanted to purchase locally COD4 is around $60.00 with sales tax includes so I am waiting for it to go on sale again. Plus the TV stand has not been assembled yet either. I am trying to determine if it will work with the TV above the fireplace. If not; I may have to place it on the TV stand!??!?

Question is will the wireless controller have enough broad - wide sent area to have the PS3 detect its signals - given the fact it is not in front of the unit; but at an angle to it but still in front of them?

Okay let me know what you think!

Thanks!

It should be able to handle the distance but I wouldn't "hard wire" anything without some testing. I play mine from time to time in a secondary room that is behind the console and there is a wall between at a distance of about 8' to 10'. The bluetooth headset I use breaks up though.

It should be fine. I've played like 50 ft away in my basement just for fun and it worked flawlessly.

If you can, I would test it first, but from my experience, you should have no problems.

Btw, angles shouldn't matter because this is a radio signal (I think) sent out in a radius, not a line from the controller.

Great! I am very relieved! If it did not work; I would have to move my TV which is already lock in place and rewire everything from scratch! This way; I just move the wires and leave everything setup! Alot of hours saved and physical strength too!

Thanks for your expertise!

I sit outside and play through a window when I'm smoking at about 20 foot away. Works great.

resurrecting this thread to ask a followup - can anyone comment on the ps3 controller range vs the xbox 360 controller range? my xbox is in a wiring closet and i sit right at the edge of the range. if the ps3 range isn't as good, i may have a problem. thanks!

I have inadvertantly powered up my PS3 with the controller when my PS3 was downstairs and the controller was upstairs in the bedroom. I'd call that about a 30' distance through all the walls and floors. I think you'll be fine as long as the battery is good.

My wife uses our PSP to watch movies streamed over remote play while she is upstairs in the same bedroom and not a single problem. (I realize that the remote play is Wi-Fi and the controller is BT, I'm just saying that the range doesn't seem to be an issue.) Heck, I've even streamed music to the PSP while I was on the deck grilling.

my ps3 is in it's own room with the rest of the equipment in the basement. Most times I'm about 20' away if not 30. Everything is fine. We have all gyprock walls.
