FRANK THE TANK 05-19-08, 06:01 PM does anyone have recommended settings for the 56A650? I searched and looked thought the tread, but found nothing. Thanks. Just curious because I have not seen a post from him (or David) in these forums in a long time. And, I'd surely like to be able to benefit from any free info he might be dispensing. Thanks. Sorry should have clarified - I was referencing his settings for last year's LED model in the thread covering the 07 Samsung sets. mmokc 05-19-08, 06:07 PM I hate to ask something that's already been asked, but in 109 pages of replies if it's been asked it's buried. I've read a good 40+ pages already. This TV sounds as though it would be perfect for me, but the geometry issues worry me greatly. A few questions: 1. How are people who are buying these sets from Crutchfield and other online stores dealing with returns in the event of geometry issues? Do you have to re-pack and ship the TV back, or do 'they' handle all of that? 2. Does the vendor (Crutchfield et al) handle these replacements, or do you have to be approved by Samsung first? 3. If geometry issues are a result of stress on the frame, are you risking even a currently-normal set developing these problems with age? Unfortunately, my situation does not really permit me to get out and into a big box store to purchase one of these, so all my dealings will be online or over the phone. I'm torn between the much better deal at a place like Crutchfield, where I can get a stand as well as skipping the tax and getting a less costly warranty, or getting the set at a local Best Buy or Circuit City on the theory that they would be a better option in the event of geometry issues, though their cost is much higher. (I have little hope of haggling for price matches or anything else over the phone.) Any insight is appreciated. Nullman 05-19-08, 07:06 PM - Should I be using sRGB color mode or normal? - What's the recommending video settings for use with the PS3? They have color range that lets you specify wide or normal and I wasn't sure what's best for this. Also not sure if I should be turning the white balance on (think that's it). I know we've PMed, but I thought I'd post my settings here for anyone else that might like them. I tweaked the TV (61A750) using an assortment of DVE, Avia, and known (to me) source material. My son just purchased the A650 model (61 inches) and I'm going to hook up his cable box (SA 4200HD) and his DVD player (Sony - not sure of model but it's progressive scan with component out - no HDMI). What is the native resolution of the A650? Should the DVD player output 480p or 480i? Which is best for the TV to do the upconversion? What about the HD cable box i.e., let the native resolution of the channel being watched passed through to the TV? or set the box to 1080i? 720P? (I told him to make sure he gets the 4200HD cable box with an HDMI output). I have a Mits 65907 (CRT rear projection HD) hooked up with my SA4200HD (component) and my Denon 2900 DVD player (component) so I'm a bit old fashioned and need to get up to speed with this digital stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff tsopranos 05-19-08, 09:22 PM I just bought the 67A750 @ BB. They price matched Tweeter/Sound Advice @ $2199. I purchased the 4 yr. warranty for $400, pricey...but it's peace of mind. I don't feel as bad about that considering the adjustment in price for the TV. They also gave me a 10% off voucher to be used on a TV stand since the one I was looking at wasn't in stock. $2768 when it was all said and done. Got around $50 from the Reward points too. Not a bad deal at all. It will be in on the 22nd, so I'll post some pics when I get a chance. moonhawk 05-19-08, 09:54 PM Hey guys. This is my first post, so please be gentle. I have been perusing these forums for a couple weeks now, as I was in search of a new set. Wife and I parted ways, but I left all my equipment there, as it is all installed, etc. w/e. I am coming from a 720P projector, which I loved. I ended up deciding on the 67A750. I went ot BB on 5/9/08 and paid for my 67. They matched the then best price of $2400. Extended warranty, delivery and tax = $3000. I took delivery of my set on 5/13/08. Set is an impressive box, nice looking and very light (85lbs or so?) When I fired her up, I noticed a distinct "list" in my picture. Unit was sitting on an uneven floor. I used these forums to find the maintanence menu and put up the test pattern, and sure enough, the picture was tilted about 3 degrees. The top test line went up the screen and disappeared about 3/4 the way across. Called Samsung and they promised to send a tech on 5/16. Long story short, no tech, no call. Over the weekend, I went to IKEA and picked up some shelves and cabiunets and made my own entertainment system. The set now sits on top of 20.5" of shelving unit and it sits almost exactly at eye level. I like the look of the shelves, etc. So last night I watched Pirates 3 on Blu-Ray and the picture is shockingly good. Very impressive. I am not a big video guy, I just like good quality. I HATE jaggies, and noticed none. Now the funny thing, the shelving is level, so now the TV sits level. and guess what? The picture is now perfect. No more "list". When I set it up, initally, my GF said maybe the list was from the uneven floor. We then went and made gross adjustments to the position of the set to see if we could change the list. No go. But when I set it up on the new shelves, I disconnected it from power. This is the only reason I can see for the list to have disappeared. But in the end, I have a very attractive set, with an amazing picture, at what I consider a very good price. Damn good report, first post or no... DolfanJay 05-19-08, 09:57 PM Hi. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff I would set DVD player to 480i and let the TV do the deinterlace and upconversion to 1080P. For the cable box I would set it to passthrough. Which will just send the native resolution of whatever channel your watching to the TV. This will eliminate any extra conversions. This is what I'm doing and it looks great. Hope this helps. Will it be as bright? I'm thinking that the 61" set looks a lot less imposing in my living room, but if the 67" image quality is as good, it may be tempting..... Then again, I only sit 9ft away. My 67" has been running almost non-stop since Saturday evening with no issues and a great picture after using some of the 61" settings in the FAQ topic on this board. Bright enough for any normal human! Just waiting on the DLP-2 Wall mounts to get here, so we can hang the beast. HDNet and things filmed in true HD look amazing, not to mention my HD-DVD's via Xbox and HDMI. Peace MR cstrasz 05-20-08, 01:06 AM I've been toying around with my 67a750 for the better part of the evening. Had friends over and we've just been trying out playstation 3 games, xbox 360 games and blu ray. While I consider myself technically savvy, I'm no where near the A/V guru that some other folks are so take that into consideration :). Long story short, I love the set so far. The picture quality is amazing in my eyes and pretty much everything I could have hoped for. The set arrived this morning through crutchfield and the white glove service was excellent and on time. Out the box the picture was adequate but needed some tweaking. It had the latest firmware installed as well and the build date was 4/4 I believe. I've only changed settings based on Nullman's recommendations so far but I'll be doing some calibrating with the DVE blu ray later this week and using a spyder 2 that I picked up. I don't see any noticeable geometry issues at all both horizontally or vertically. Is it possible that it's there? Sure, but I have paid a bit of attention and I don't see it. I also have not seen any reflection so far in the top part of the screen nor the silk screen effect I've heard some folks mention (although that may be due to sitting 12-13 feet away). I've checked out the set from a good 6 or 7 feet and still don't see it, so maybe that's just me. No rainbow effect at all for myself or any of the 5 folks I had over. I can't comment on the audio since I have the set running my receiver and have no need for the tv speakers. Attached are a few pics. Sorry for the horrible quality - it's hard to take pictures of this at night, let alone pictures that can really illustrate how beautiful the picture is on this thing. The image shows some slight red push but rest assured I don't see that in actual viewing. My friends keep talking about the little details they see in planet earth and other blu rays that they are just amazed. And the set seems like a perfect size for the viewing distance. How visible/annoying are the little legs that come down over the front of the cabinet? Additionally, do you find the center being that high up to be an issue at all? I'm trying to decide if that should be the route, or if the center should go below the TV, but pointed up (since most centers have a slanted cabinet to allow for this. I'm just concerned that below puts the center down at about 12" off the ground, which is less than ideal. Al_HiFi 05-20-08, 11:23 AM Thanks Dude. While it has 30lb capacity, with so common geometry issues on these sets it may be asking for a trouble after few weeks. It may be a solution for 61" sets but for 67" and 72" no way to get proper soundfield. As an alternative I thought of getting an optional extra shelf on my Salamander shelf or using those wall mounts to raise above the stand with speaker channel and few components on top. With these configuration center cahnnel will be around 20" high for proper sound. Nice to have receiver based set up, but with elaborate sound system and separates it is a challenge to fit it properly. donb1948 05-20-08, 11:30 AM While it has 30lb capacity, with so common geometry issues on these sets it may be asking for a trouble after few weeks. I have no idea where I can put the center speaker for my set since the thing is so damn tall. If I were to place a shelf above the 67, would this be too high? I can't place it underneath since the stand doesn't have a spot that would allow it to sit dead center. Watched it last night. NO rainbows....great picture. I was loving life. This morning I woke up to play some Oblivion on the PS3 and I was greeted by a little message that says "Check Fan No. 3." After a minute or so it shuts off. Hopefully they can come out and repair it soon. Has anyone else ran into the Check Fan thing??? If its an easy fix, I'll do it myself. I have the tools and expertise, just not the service manual. cstrasz 05-20-08, 11:51 AM I read about someone else having that same error. Truefully, the distortion, which was observable with some dvds and 4:3 programming) was more of a nuisance rather than a problem. If I were involved with the content, everthing was fine. But, if my eyes wandered up, all I could visualize was that ever so slight "smile." Everyone I spoke with at BB said to exchange it if I were not happy, even though they warned (and I understood) that getting a "good" one was a roll of the dice. The manager even said that he believed the manufacturers now viewed the dlps as "bargain" units (best screen real estate to cost ratio) and, regardless of how good the technology is, were not putting as much into quality construction, etc. He actually said that the manufacturers believe that people seeking bargains would not be as picky about quality. He advised if I wanted to stay with a dlp, just keep returning it until I got a good one. Anyway, the real problem started when they tried to put the exchange into their computer. I bought the set on the 17th of April and it was delivered on the 25th of April. As far as the 30-day return was concerned, the computer insisted that I was outside the policy window (today is the 20th!) and would not allow the exchange to be entered. A manager came up with a convoluted work around where they listed my set and warranty as a return with a gift card issued for the total amount and then ordered the new set on the gift card. BB is scheduled to delivery the new and pick up the old on the 23rd. 30-day return period also restarts. And I do not want to place it on top of the tv to prevent long term issues but having a shelf built on the wall isn't an issue. The key consideration is whether the sound appears to be coming from the screen. I have positioned the center speaker both above and below the screen. After equalizing speaker volumes, correcting for the difference in distance to the speakers in the different postitions and touching up frequency equalization a bit (due to different environments), I could not tell the difference in the two positions. If the speaker is placed above the unit, you want to ensure that the front of the speaker is as close as possible to being in the same plane as the screen. Placing the speaker behind the screen (even if it is above the screen) can be problematic. (Edit: Also, when the speaker is below the screen, it should be angled up and angled down if above the screen.) prophetizer 05-20-08, 12:34 PM Another stupid question All of the settings being listed......why does everyone have the "EDGE ENHANCEMENT" turned off? Center speaker generally should be within 2 feet vertically from your main speakers to have a chance of creating proper soundfield. Putting it on a wall and tilting could be a compromise of functionality, but getting it on top or above of 72" DLP sets it will be way too high for proper sound (unless you watch TV standing giving ovations to it's performance), not to menthion looking ugly on top of "floating" thin frame of DLP. It applies even strongly to people with somewhat hi-end speakers, since none of them are small and light. That wall mounted solution is getting intriguing. Anyone can show it in action? If you think it looks better by all means turn in on. I don't like it because it adds an artificial enhancement to edges that is not in the source material. Just hooked up my 61a750 last night and tried playing a PS3 game to compare it to my other samsung lcd. When PS3 started up the display said 1080..... then when the game came up it wasn't 1080 anymore. BATman94 05-20-08, 03:19 PM While is seems like the less-sexier DLPs are being put in the corner of the retailers TV section now, are they really starting to be poor quality builds? I'm hearing that the Mits RPTV LaserVue is going to go for $4K (that includes a reported 50% premium for having "lasers"). They sure seem to be lower in price than some of the other tv's but what I have noticed with this technology is that the manufactures do tend to fluctuate the price of the units. I have been keeping track on this thread as I am in the market for a new TV. I have heard a lot of good reviews on this TV over other TV's. It is a 13" high active monitor bookshelf, capable of some serious crankage, but its size really necessitates the use of a low stand, then aiming the speaker upwards toward the listening position. I think I'll probably just use stereo mains and toe them in just a wee bit more, so that the central image is more solid. Oh well...we all must compromise. If I didn't love my speakers so much, I'd get some OrbAudio.com or Roundsound.com balls, which can be placed right above or below the screen without being so obtrusive. tallen94 05-20-08, 04:23 PM New poster here. Just hooked up my 61a750 last night and tried playing a PS3 game to compare it to my other samsung lcd. When PS3 started up the display said 1080..... then when the game came up it wasn't 1080 anymore. So I then changed the picture size on the TV from 16:9 to something else (forgot the name) and it seemed to look much better. Did I do the right thing?? Any help on this. It is hooked up thru hdmi cables. Thanks On the PS3, each game can specify which resolutions the game will support. Most games on the PS3 will only run up to a resolution of 720p with only a handful supporting 1080p. Your game switched resolutions from 1080p for the dashboard to 720p. Once you quit the game, it will go back to 1080p. This is a little different compared to the 360 where you set a single resolution on the dashboard and the 360 will only output that resolution for games. So if you set your 360 for 1080p, any game that can't support that resolution will have its output upconverted by the internal hardware scaler so your tv never has to change its input settings. missrunt 05-20-08, 04:38 PM 39 Inches for the 61. These posts made me realize I'm gonna have to mount my current speaker somewhere if I get the HL67A750. My old SD (50'' Hitachi) had a feater that allowed you to use the TV speakers as the center channel. Obviously, those speakers weren't the same quality, but at least they were in the right spot. I've come to the conclusion that integrating a properly oriented center channel is next to impossible with sets this large. I use the same speaker as my left/right mains for the center channel. Interestingly enough, there actually seems to be very little pressure on the rear portion which hangs down and touches the back of the TV. In fact, it is quite easy to accidently swivel the rear pegs that are resting on the back of the TV. Not sure how this can be. Basically most of the weight seems to be on the front of the mount which is resting on the top structural area around the TV. There is no noticable deformation on the screen. I cannot speak for someone who may be having trouble with a 67" or 72". But from what I am experiencing with this set, I can't see there being a big issue with excess preasure. BTW, having the speaker on top sounds fine to me. But, my front mains are probably less than a foot lower. Again, I will try to post some picks when I get home. :) millsan1 05-20-08, 05:50 PM As for location of speaker, as you can see in my pic, it is offset to the left in my installation. Since I often like to lay on the floor while watching movies, vertical viewing angles are very important to me. When I was in the market for my last HDTV I noticed the Samsung DLP's had a pretty significant shift in brightness/contrast as I went from eye-level to floor-level. I was just wondering if the new LED light engine would help correct that at all. I'm currently using a 34" Sony CRT - so I'm a little spoiled in that regard right now. Specifically the 61". I'll most likely notice even minor shifts and it will bother me. Thanks. I suppose you could put some kind of shim under the back of the set to tilt it downwards when you're on the floor. tsopranos 05-21-08, 01:52 PM I suppose you could put some kind of shim under the back of the set to tilt it downwards when you're on the floor. My set happens to have a rather wide and strong top so I am able to just balance my center on it. I have been doing this for over 4 years without any trouble. I had this same stand for my center channel with my last RPTV. My solution for the feet was to cut a couple rubberbands into strips and stick them to the two-sided tape. So basically it goes feet, tape, rubberband. This creates a good friction between the TV surface and the legs of the stand. It also doesnt leave any residue on your TV. donb1948 05-21-08, 05:04 PM I've read hear and elsewhere that TI does not allow manufacturers to inform the consumers which chip (e.g. DC3 or DC4) is in their units. I'm not sure that this is a hard and fast rule. I just received an ad from AV Science wherein a manufacturer specifically stated that its single panel dlp projector contained the DC4 chip. A bit of history... I start following these forums when Samsung was switching from the HL-N to the HL-P models and wobbulation was coming into vogue. At the time, HP did an absolutely horrendous job of naming the chip generations and distinguishing the wobbulated and non-wobbulated chips. And, as a consequence, everyone, including the manufacturers were confused. It was at this point that the manufacturers stopped trying to identify the chip and started using their proprietary descriptors including generational nomenclature to apply to their optical engines rather than the chips. I actually remember that it was a Samsung rep (yes, one visited frequently) who posted in a thread that HP was pushing them not to use HP's chip designators in their ads. In a way, this was also a benefit to the manufacturers because they no longer had to be deal with the hold outs who were going to wait for the display with the ultimate DCXXX chip. Whether it was a rule, policy, agreement or convenience, we never knew for sure, but the HP designators did disappear - at least for a while. What reviews? There haven't been reviews on the new sets yet. If you are looking at last years sets reviews don't rely on them. I've had my set for almost 2 months, great blacks, and no hint of hot spot. What geometry issue? The same geometry issues crap-shoot on Sammy DLP since day 1, if you are just talking general geometry issues.Reviews from CNet, Home Theater, Perfect Vision for starters. Yes, it was last years sets, but has anything really changed in the design? is the screen different? Are the LED's brighter? Have they done something about the grey blacks? All the reviews I have read blasted these LED sets big time. This isn't just one review, or one person. Actually one review had a shoot out and compared sets side by side (the superior test) and reported those findings. Regarding geometry issues, this is what I have seen posted in this thread more than once. No idea what they were talking about. I'm just asking, don't shoot the messenger. BTW, if you never had another HD set, my questions are moot since you have nothing to compare it to. videobruce 05-21-08, 11:05 PM Really stupid removing the 2nd RF input. This set is just as bright and offers a better picture than the older lamp model. Yes, the LED is improved over last year's models. I see no hot spots on this set. I have very minimal geometry issue (have to stare at a grid pattern to find any issue). This was my first set...the only thing I might send it back for is a 67" if the price point warrants a trade-up. If you don't need or care about hanging your set on a wall (altho some are proposing to do just that w/ these 14-16" deep sets), then I would very much recommend DLP as a very viable alternative to any other tech out there today. Cost per diagonal inch simply can't be touched, the picture quality is tremendous at the price point and the issues are, in my opinion, minimal...assuming you don't have any glaring geometry issues. Just buy from a good dealer who will exchange your set if you are not satisfied. You generally can't walk into B&M stores and do a good side-by-side. Those shops are generally not setup to show you anything but torch mode w/ crappy signals. And as was said earlier, don't take last years tech reviews assume nothing has changed. NDRugby 05-21-08, 11:11 PM Big River put it at $2299. If you check Samsung website in description it is listed at $2299 MSRP as well. Good news. Back up to $2999 on Big River today. Should have ordered one yesterday I guess. Oh well. But then again Sammie's site still says $2299.99 Nullman 05-21-08, 11:15 PM BTW, if you never had another HD set, my questions are moot since you have nothing to compare it to. FWIW, My 61A750 replaced a 50XBR800 (Sony Grand Wega XBR) LCD/RP. This TV is better in almost every way. The blacks are much blacker, the screen has less glare, it's a lot brighter, it's bigger, has more accurate color, no bulb to replace, and cost less than 1/2 the price that TV did five years ago. I'm sure there are better TVs out there, but I couldn't find another I liked better at this price/value. Also, I played my Xbox 360 for hours tonight on 1080p over component and had no issues. I believe it has been fixed with today's firmware release. JohnAV 05-22-08, 01:15 AM I was asking about the 67" set... not the 61" set. Yes, it was last years sets, but has anything really changed in the design? is the screen different? Are the LED's brighter? Have they done something about the grey blacks? For starters a newer LED engine, possibly a different DLP chip. The majority opinion here, just from memory, is the new sets look better. And yes I've followed DLP tech since owning a HLM I bought in late 2002. Is it noticably better than a bulb set from 2 years ago, I can't say since I didn't thave one in my house. It absolutely blows away my HLN-upgraded HLM. Cost is very little. But, mostly: 4. Not all OTA stations are carried on cable TV. I double the number of digital stations using OTA then what I receive on cable. BATman94 05-22-08, 01:30 PM Given that LaserVue will be likely out of my price range, and it now appears that the HL61A750 and HL67A750 are only using the DC3 chip, can anyone point me to a good comparison between the HL61A750 vs. a 52'' XBR4 (which reportedly is not without its own issues)--screen size excluded of course? If money wasn't an object between the two, would HL61A750 owners have gone with the XBR4 (taking into consideration which forum I am posting this)? Too many choices! Too many decisions--why can't they just go back to BW CRTs! ;-) Charles R 05-22-08, 02:02 PM 1. Why have TWO tuners and only one input??With the DVR penetration rate rising (some markets are over 25%) I wouldn't be surprised if before long sets start coming without any RF inputs. :) Personally I haven't used any set without a DVR since 2000. Hipnotiq 05-22-08, 02:38 PM 4. Not all OTA stations are carried on cable TV. I double the number of digital stations using OTA then what I receive on cable. I suppose it is dependant on geographical location. At least in my area I can recieve all OTA channels via my cable. Cable operators in NY may in fact be different (and cheaper?). All that is needed in the TV to achieve what you want is an RF switch and a little software which they had previously. I think that would be a pretty low cost addition to keep a few consumers happy. Sounds as you work for the Asian marketing departments. Is that a crack at my english skills? RandomHajile 05-22-08, 03:43 PM what is the real value in having 2 RF inputs? I think most people that use cable dont use air and vice versa. If your TV supports PIP then I can see the value, but I really dont see much value in PIP either. Well, our cable system has Columbus, Ohio locals in HD, but I can only pick up Huntington, WV locals OTA. While neither gives us much coverage of our area, Huntington does cover news in the county south of us and occasionally our county. Of course, I plan on going with an HD DVR soon, so I can probably hook that up through HDMI and still have my OTA Huntington stations. However, this would render the PIP feature obsolete, as it is analog only. I wish the PIP feature was more robust. *shrug*....that's just me. xbr4pixels 05-22-08, 03:50 PM Given that LaserVue will be likely out of my price range, and it now appears that the HL61A750 and HL67A750 are only using the DC3 chip, can anyone point me to a good comparison between the HL61A750 vs. a 52'' XBR4 (which reportedly is not without its own issues)--screen size excluded of course? Its like ATI producing a new GPU called the HD3880 but telling all the OEMs they have to market it under the HD3870 name... makes no sense. Consumers want new and better. Why would I buy a DC3 TV when I could get a DC4 TV for the same price? You lost me here. Are you saying it makes no sense that TI technically does not allow advertising of the chip type? I have no idea if it is true but its been floated here, I also haven't heard any proof it is not true. No you probably wouldn't want a DC3 if you could get a DC4 for the same price. Who is saying otherwise? If you are saying get a Mits instead Mits doesn't make LED. If people really treat lack of confirmation of DC4 as a deal killer, then they can go to another brand or wait. There is no guarantee Samsung won't exit the market and never do DC4. Since there is no LED to compare to that has DC4, how do they even know what they are missing? I have a hard time believing DC4 is going to make that much difference vs. how well my uncalibrated 61A750 looks with (likely) DC3. Its the same old wait forever if you wait for perfect game. If you wait for DC4, maybe it will have the same LED engine as this year's model. Then 6 months later they upgrade the LED engine. The major issues are resolved with LED as far as I'm concerned, who is to say there won't be new or different issues with a move to DC4? I was considering ordering the 67a750 from them (they don't apparently have them in yet). I recently received a 61a750, from an Internet dealer, which had 1/2" vertical bowing. Samsung said "that's normal", so I got the dealer to agree to take it back. However, they did not want to ship another, should it have the same problem... or worse. So, I'm looking "local". If Best Buy agrees to the price match and honors their 10% off coupon, I think I'll give it a go. However, I definitely can't fit that monster in my car. I just hope the original dealer picks-up the 61" before I wind up getting the 67". AdamWL 05-22-08, 07:01 PM Stopped by HHgregg today after work. The store was basically empty, and the video dept manager was happy to stand around and BS with me. I was looking at the 61A750 and, playing dumb, asked him if it had "that new DLP chip" from TI that is supposed to enhance contrast. He said that only Mitsubishi's 2008 models have the new chip at this point, and that it was a Mits exclusive initial release. He said all 2008 Samsung DLP models released so far have the same chip as last year's models. I asked if the A750 was the top of the Samsung DLP line. He said that it was, until the A850 is released late this summer. He said that the main difference with the A850 was that it will feature something like Mitsubishi's Dark Detailer. He said that while it isn't listed in their system yet, he knew it would be "several hundred dollars" more expensive than the A750 and not really worth the extra $$$, in his opinion. I asked if it had the new chip, and he said he thought the "dark detailer" was really just some kind of software difference and NOT the new TI chip. Honestly, he wasn't all that interested in selling me a DLP and was pushing me hard toward a 58" Sammy plasma (for $1K more, of course). He said that if I absolutely had to have a DLP I should just wait for the Mitsubishi laser model this fall. Anyhow, I guess I figured there would be an A850, just never had anyone talk to me about it before. For what it's worth.... Is this the only "inside information" on the A850? Not overly promising to hold your breath for. AdamWL 05-22-08, 07:06 PM I was just curious as to how people are buying this tv at BB. At least as of today, the 67a750 is in the in-store Best Buy computer system (I was at one of them). They show as due 6/1, but they are currently at regional Best Buy warehouses. The are accepting orders on them and will bring them in with a 5-6 day delivery time. They're obviously listed at the original manufacturer suggested retail price of $2,499. I'd wait a few weeks or find a place that's running a sale and see if they will price match it. missrunt 05-22-08, 07:24 PM I moved from a $4k 56" HLN to the <$1900 61" LED A750. If you don't need or care about hanging your set on a wall (altho some are proposing to do just that w/ these 14-16" deep sets), then I would very much recommend DLP as a very viable alternative to any other tech out there today. Ordered my DLP-2 wall mounts from an online video spy retailer (just google DLP-2 for the best price) Monday, and they are sitting on my porch in a box today (Thursday). I'll post some photos once we hang this 67" beast. Still finishing the drywall and cable runs before we can hoist her. Peace MR AdamWL 05-22-08, 07:50 PM I have a strong suspicion that Samsung's LED implementation is a stepping stone to an eventual Samsung laser back-light. According to Mitsubishi, two other manufacturers have expressed interest in implementing the Mitsu laser technology for their respective DLP products. Samsung was mentioned by name. I get the feeling that since Samsung caters more to low price/most bang for your buck products they felt LED was a way to side-step the DLP technology forward. The fact they chose to omit the DC4 for their current line-up seems related to a cost-savings measure. Additionally, since Samsung chooses to manufacture their North American DLPs in Mexico, it doesn't help to bolster the confidence in the overall quality and there really is no excuse for the flimsyness of the frame/enclosure. But hey, when all is said and done, the price for what you get is appealing and many might not want to pay a premium for the "higher end" Mitsu products. All things being equal, I'd prefer a 65" laser lit DC4, but "A" it isn't available and "B" it will likely incur a pretty hefty premium. I for one intend to stay with Samsung. missrunt 05-22-08, 08:48 PM I have a strong suspicion that Samsung's LED implementation is a stepping stone to an eventual Samsung laser back-light. Many of our products are sourced from other countries. Germany, Egypt, China, Mexico, Japan, Etc. In recent years, the products from Mexico have become very competitive to the rest. We rank the product quality in this manner. #1 - USA #2 - Japan #3 - Mexico #4 - Germany #5 - Egypt #6 - China With all the US money that goes south of the border, they have become able to build plants and quality control to rival most others. That's why they're continually lowering their prices into that range. Sure, I'd pay a couple hundred dollar premium for a laser DLP with DC4, but just a few hundred. With the economy slackening, Samsung would be smart to continue in the direction they're going. They kinda sorta have a niche to themselves. Somewhere on the net there's a BB reward zone-type coupon for 12% off, and it looks like BB has essentially given you that discount. BB's policy is to apply their coupon discount to their regular price, not the sale price -- though YMMV. Dude2000theman 05-23-08, 10:27 AM How much pressure is being applied at the top of the frame with this stand? It looks like a good center placement but I'd be worried about long term issues with geometry as a result of placing it there. Sorry about the late response. Hard to see the forrest through the trees I suppose. Anyway, the speaker weighs about 18 lbs. And I think the stand might be 2 or 3 lbs. The top of the TV seems extremely sturdy. The back which the long legs are resting on does not feel as sturdy. It is also from what I understand where the big reflective mirror is. However, there is very littl weight on those legs. The majority of the weight is on the stiff frame around the top of the TV. I've noticed on my 50A650 that if I apply pressure to the cabinet on the top corners to the back, I can easily bend the cabinet back a bit and the bowing goes away. The problem is that when I let go, the cabinet returns to its previous state. The cabinet on my old HLN is SO MUCH sturdier and cannot be bent with my hands. This leads me to believe that the cabinet is the issue and that a sturdier one woudl at least help prevent geometry issues. Haven't tried to see if this fixes hourglass as well. Zyeox 05-23-08, 11:03 AM Wow the cabinet is really that flimsy. No wonder these sets are cheaper than usual. My fathers old 65 inch RP tv is heavy and than all hell. But the cabinet is built very well. But with this new age of making tv's lighter I guess the tv's are being made cheaper and cheaper. Sgooter 05-23-08, 11:04 AM Just a couple of PQ/scaling-related comments... My main uses of the 61A750 are: watching HD TV using an HD-DVR cable box; and watching movies using an upconverting DVD player. I'm running HDMI from these devices to an HT receiver, then a single HDMI cable runs from the receiver to the TV. I've tried all the various output/upconverting formats and settings from the cable box and the DVD player. For me, the best PQ on this set results from enabling all the raw/native outputs from the cable box and DVD player, and let the TV's scaler do all the work. Changing cable channels often induces a delay of a few seconds while the TV's scaler does its magic, but the resulting PQ is worth the wait. Hipnotiq 05-23-08, 02:46 PM It's only a matter of time before the 750 pricing finds their bottom. Especially if the 850's are around the corner. I really hate being an early adopter. Luckily my 61a750 was taken back and refunded by the dealer because of 1/2" vertical geometry issues. I sure hope the frame on the 67s really are more sturdy. Now it's a waiting game. I think someone just said this in passing, as if it is the next logical step, and now people are stating it as a fact and basing their buying decisions on rumor and inuendo??? I agree, if there is an a850, I think it'll be release at normal time. Like 2009 in April. Why would they release anything early? Also, how long did we know about the A750 ahead of time? There is nothing about an A850... AdamWL 05-23-08, 02:57 PM My only question is when do I pull the trigger on the TV? These TV's are going up and down left and right I am not sure when to actually go out and get the TV. I hate to lose money. How long is BB and CC price match refund after u buy the TV. Under normal conditions, I'd have no hesitation to purchase a relatively high ticket item from an Internet dealer and save on the shipping and tax. But with the potential geometry issue affecting (at least the 61s) I'm reluctant to take another roll of the dice. One ordeal with Samsung and the last Internet dealer was more than enough. Personally, I've had nothing but the best customer experience with Amazon (I hadn't bought the 61 through them). However, they had said that they will take back or exchange a TV that you claim has a problem, without question. If Amazon does what they did with the price of the 61s to the 67s, their price might be quite good shortly after 6/1. This is what 1/2" vertical geometry issues looks like... 111135 111136 turls 05-23-08, 03:37 PM So, are the geometry issues then stemming from physical anomalies in the box/screen itself or is it something else. My old CRT PC monitor has settings that allow me to adjust the geometry every which way. Why can't this be done with this model to solve the frequent geometry issues. If this thicker box on the 67 does solve the issues, then I am now leaning back toward it. However, now that there are rumblings for Samsung laser (likely cheaper then the Mits. model)...maybe I'll hold out....ugh. That is great news. This was the single most limiting factor for the decision to proceed on ordering this model. Now just to wait for the price to moderate. The cabinet on my old HLN is SO MUCH sturdier and cannot be bent with my hands. This leads me to believe that the cabinet is the issue and that a sturdier one woudl at least help prevent geometry issues. Haven't tried to see if this fixes hourglass as well. Sorry guys, but there is more to it than just the cabinet. I had HLMs with a very sturdy cabinet and you can still get focus and geometry issues. I went through a couple of sets with various issues. As far as why the don't offer adjustments, it is probably either a cost issue or a picture quality issue. They should at least do tilt IMO. I wish they would make an LED that is 72" in size. :p If I'm going to replace my HLN61W 61" DLP then going to 67" is not enough! I wonder if it has something to do with the brightness of the LED's??? Most likely, since they are using a brighter LED this year and their biggest set is bigger than last year's biggest. Their normal price matching/guarantee is 30 days from the purchase date. I've heard that Circuit City offered a 60-day guarantee as a promotion a short while ago, but I'm not so sure that's around any more. I just called from my purchase from March 26th and got my price adjusted no problem. I didn't even try to get a coupon applied though, since I was already saving over $250 over my original price with coupon. They have a 60 day HDTV price guarantee that may be limited, but it isn't stated that way on their web site. If I had bought the TV in the store, I would have had to go to the store to get the price adjustment. Since I bought it online, I got the adjustment by a phone call. So I not only got the advantages of shopping online from CC, I got the benefits of B&M since the delivery was all handled by my "local" (45 miles away) store including free delivery and a free exchange for my first set with geometry and focus issues. But then tell me which one is the best to get? xbr4pixels 05-23-08, 05:10 PM Well considering i am some what OCD and VERY hard to please i was very surprised that a TV would fully meet my demands. For me it was the kds-60a3000 that blew me away.I even thought the 3k plus 52xbr4 was a piece of you know what and returned that. And i know the a3000 was discontinued but some are still sitting on shelfs for half of there normal price. Zyeox 05-23-08, 05:16 PM Yea that sony was what I was looking at before but they have been sold out all over my area. From what I saw in the store the Samsung 56A650 in the store looked way better than the sony 60A that was on display. xbr4pixels 05-23-08, 05:24 PM well i had all these the 750,the 52xbr4 was a smear fest, and the a3000.The a3000 picture at least in my house blew away the a750 but i did see a few a3000 display models that looked bad and worn out.Idk if that was bad setting's or them a3000's were just old.Because mine looks sick its as sharp/clear/bright as top of the line lcd's with way better blacks. And i saw the a650 was nicer IMO then the darker led 750.But the bowing is way to distracting even to get a a650 for me.And the a3000 has so many thing's like motion enhancer great geometry sharp picture etc.If you can grab one on display that isnt dead/crapped out looking i would. Nullman 05-23-08, 05:27 PM is the effect on the picture obvious to non-videophiles? I would think so. I wouldn't accept that. Lucky, I don't have any such problem with my 61A750. telero 05-23-08, 05:27 PM Where are you located and do you know if that applies to all costcos or is it regional? I'm in Oregon, but I'd assume it's a chain wide deal. I'm not sure if they do any price matching at all, but I'm guessing the free stand would take care of that anyway. But at least you get 90 days to take it back, for any reason. I'm just curious what their price will be for this in a couple months...how close it will be to Amazon/BB/CC, and how much the MSRP might drop by then. Right now the only DLP that Costco has is the Mits WD-65833, and it's $2600, while the lowest price I could find elsewhere is around $2100 shipped. Although I believe you get an extra year warranty through Costco. jayquinty 05-23-08, 05:44 PM I'm expecting delivery later today of my 61A750. This TV is replacing my beloved Hitachi 57S500 that I really love and hate to sell, but we're having a new entertainment center built into an 8' niche in the wall and I did not want to build around the big box Hitachi. I want to be able to make use of the space below the television, since the niche is going to cost almost 3X what the TV is costing!!! Since I have not spec'd out the height of the TV yet, I'm wondering how high to make it. I've played around with a tape measure, and it looks like 22" off the floor would put the screen slightly higher than the Hitachi. I'm estimating (because I don't have the TV yet) that mid screen will be about 44" off the floor.(with the TV shelf at 22") My Hitachi mid-screen height is around 40" off the floor. I'm wondering if this extra 4" up will be too high for viewing from 12' away. It will definitely be nicer for viewing from across the room. This is in a large 22' X 25' great room, with the kitchen behind the family room. Seating area for the TV is about 12' away. So from the kitchen, you'd be looking beyond the sofa to the TV on the other side of the room, 20' away. I'm leaning towards having the TV a little high for viewing from the kitchen area. If I put the base of the TV at 22" off the floor, the middle of the screen on the 61A750 will be probably 6" higher than the middle of the Hitachi RPTV. I never noticed a problem with dimming of the picture on the Hitachi (high to low), but I believe the DLP may be more noticable, high to low. I read that on the last model Samsung, dimming was more noticable when you looked down on the TV versus looking up. I'd apprecaite any input you folks have on this. Thanks Jay CEB II 05-23-08, 05:51 PM We currently own Samsung HLN507W, which the wife agrees we will replace before the end of the year. We are primarily looking at LCDs, but every so often the wife asks why we don't consider another DLP since we have been happy with the one we've had for almost 5 years and we could save a few bucks. So I always take a quick look to see what is up with the new DLPs. Last year's Sammy DLPs were terrible. Maybe they were rated 1080p, but I wouldn't have traded my current Sammy DLP for any of them. My wife was shocked when she saw them. I saw some Series 6 units about a month ago and was impressed with the improvement in PQ and horizontal viewing angle over the 2007 models. Today, while on my way out of a CC store, I spotted the first Series 7 model that I've seen. So what was my reaction, disappointment. While it definitely has a brighter and sharper picture than its predecessors, this LED DLP pales in basic video sharpness, depth of color, and viewing angle to the Series 6. No way would I replace my current Sammy with this model, it isn't as enjoyable to watch. Now I would consider a Series 6 based on PQ, since it would be equal to or better than my current Sammy; however, the comments on this thread about bowing issues certainly discourage that. The CC store where I saw the Series 7 had a Mitsu (don't remember the model number) next to it and a Series 6 next to the Mitsu. Walking from the Series 7 to the Mitsu and then to the Series 6 was a progression of PQ and viewing angle, with the Series 6 the best and the Mitsu second. The Series 7 just has that dull soupy color look to it without any "pop" and what color sharpness it has fades badly once you move about 30 degrees off center (no I didn't use a protractor, but I'm an ME with a PE, so I have some sense of angular measurement via visual inspection). The Series 6 PQ and viewing angle were very good and, but for the cabinet and picture distortion problem, would probably be on my replacement candidate list. BTW, I'm not one of those who thinks he sees rainbows and I don't know anyone who has ever seen a rainbow with my current Sammy. I also don't have an issue with the lamp replacement in DLPs. I replaced my first lamp at about 7000 hours because we thought it was failing. It wasn't, it was a video board problem, so I still have that lamp as a backup. The second lamp is still going strong at over 9000 hours. Total investment in lamps for almost 17,000 hours of use is about $200. No big deal. If I thought the bowing and distortion problems would be fixed by late in the year, I'd really consider the Series 6, but I think that Samsung is suffering the unintended consequences of trying to get the slimmest and lightest DLP on the market. STR3T 05-23-08, 06:30 PM CEB II, I couldn't disagree you more. I too went from HLN567W to an 61A750. I too have 5 years of viewing under the old lamp model. My lamp is still going at 10k hours, but I had to replace (under warranty fortunately) the light engine twice. Aside from that, i was concerned going from lamp to LED due to large windows where this set resides. It's a non-issue. The LED is plenty bright. LOST episodes have never looked so crisp, colorful and "wow" than what I first felt moving to the original 56". Blue Ray via PS3 is awesome, altho I've got limited # of viewings thru BD. I got 6" more diagonal (you'd get 11" more!), slimmer, less lbs, no lamp, 3 HDMI's, 3D, less noise, less power consumption, etc. etc. for 1/2 the price of the HLN. Unless you think you're going to be moving this set around frequently, the frame is minimal issue. Guys, you simply can't walk into BB and/or CC and assume you are seeing what these sets are capable of doing. You can't. Take one home under "buy it, try it". I bet you keep it. Hope you have good results with your 750 -- keep us informed. AdamWL 05-23-08, 07:41 PM is the effect on the picture obvious to non-videophiles? Honestly, it's only an issue, but a discernible issue, when you are viewing 4:3 content. If you're happily watching everything in 16:9 or stretching 4:3 to 16:9, you don't see it while viewing a program. However you will see it when putting up your programming guide or DVR menu. And yes, it nags at you. It's like getting a brand new car that has a big chip in the paint right on the drivers side door. You can't not look at it. For the people that are taking the time to be on this list, we're likely going to want to view programming in the native aspect ratio that it was produced in. And even my wife, who could care less what technology or specs the TV has, complains about the 4:3 image leaning over. For $2K, a straight line should be nearly a straight line. Rant complete. AdamWL 05-23-08, 07:53 PM Quick question: Does big river have a price guarentee? I'm just wondering if the price drops on their site in a few weeks if I'll be able to get the difference. Amazon really is the greatest when it comes to customer service and their price guarantee. Though they do NOT offer price matching to other merchants, if you buy DIRECTLY through Amazon and their own price, NOT a Marketplace merchant, comes down within 30-days of when you RECEIVE it, they will refund the difference, with no hassle at all. All you need to is call them or email the request (the onus is on you and you'll have to watch the price throughout the month with all the fluctuations). I've had them refund price drops many a times and they've been great about it. Even if it's a few days after you got it they'll usually say "No problem and thanks for being an Amazon customer!" I'm trying to decide between the Sammy HL67A750 or HL61A750 or HL72A650 and the Mitsu WD73736 or WD65736. I dont think I want the Mitsu 735 series. This TV is going to be used in my new Media Room. No windows to worry about in this room so lighting will be perfect. moonhawk 05-24-08, 11:58 AM By the way when I get to work I'll see if I can find more information about DC4 with Samsung DLP's. Good luck with that! Unless you work in the industry and have some SERIOUS inside connections. This thread has been all over that issue for months, and no definitive word has emerged, though it's looking less and less likely these sets have DC$. That said, the issues seem to be dropping, no bad geometry reports yet on the 67 inchers, and most posters seem to be really pleased with the overall PQ, naysayers notwithstanding. I'll probably wait to see how the Mits lasers play out, but I'm looking favorably on the 67. But for now, especially with limited viewing this time of year, I'm perfectly happy with my HLN567W. It's nice to be able to afford to wait and see. :) t3watts3 05-24-08, 12:11 PM Good luck with that! Unless you work in the industry and have some SERIOUS inside connections. I don't work for any of the companies that make the DLP TV's but I work for the company that makes the key component :D I can afford to wait as well since it's going to take about 8 months to build our house. donb1948 05-24-08, 12:48 PM Exchanged my 1st HL56A650 thru BB because of a small, but annoying, geometry issue. Checked out the new set this morning. At first, I thought that the geometry looked worst but on measurement, nothing varied by more than 1/16 of an inch (woe be the powers of suggestion and low expectations). Feeling good about that, I started my usual routine of photographing the service menu. Hmmm... This set has earlier firmware than my previous set. Samsung service (2nd level) could not/would not tell me what differences might exist btwn the two versions. As far as service is concerned, no update route exists. (If I could come up with an issue the newer software might resolve, they might be able to get a copy for me.) This could very well be "Much Ado About Nothing," but nevertheless, it's got me wondering if (or, imagining that) I'm missing out on the latest and greatest again. OK, some of us are never satisfied... AdamWL 05-24-08, 02:34 PM Though its an Internet etailer, Electronique Plus is selling the 67a750 for $2,087.00. Though Best Buy doesn't match Internet dealer pricing, I mentioned the price to a floor sales rep. She took a look at their margin and said, they could likely match that price, though it would be up to the manager. She said to bring in the printed price and she would run it by him. I think this is just the tip of the ice burg. I think we'll see pricing under $2,000 from both Internet and B&M within 45-days of the 6/1 official launch date. They're going to have to cut their margins if they expect to move these products during today's economy... I feel bad for movie theater owners. arthurvino 05-24-08, 06:10 PM its the best times for movie theater owners, why would you feel bad? AdamWL 05-24-08, 07:03 PM its the best times for movie theater owners, why would you feel bad? I wasn't talking about "home" theater movie owners. I was talking about the $14.00 a ticket cinema theater owners. I had three multiplex cinemas within 10-miles of me. Now there's one. The others are vacant lots. I haven't "gone to the movies" in over two years. With 67" HDTV's and HD content over cable, satellite, blu-ray/HD DVD and digital download, how many "go" to the movies any more? yankeeman 05-24-08, 08:54 PM I wasn't talking about "home" theater movie owners. I live inbetween Miami and Ft Lauderdale and I in the lucky spot of having a Muvico with 18 screens 2 miles from me and a Regal with 13 screens 1-1/2 miles from me, both do great, and both charge between $7 - $9 a ticket. My wife and I go to the movies at least twice a month, many times more, and the patrons there are pretty good, they usually dont bug us. Are you serious about $14 a ticket?????? When you live just outside NYC you got to cough up $14. Matinees are $8.50- a veritable bargain. Take the wife and kid along with a large popcorn and three sodas and you're talking $53 for the three of us. I'll wait for our supermarket Red Box to rent for a buck on watch on our own theater screen. I used to love going to the movies. I went to my local multiplex every Friday night with a friend from work (before getting married). Then I realized $19 a week for a 2-hour movie was better spent elsewhere... tomanik 05-24-08, 10:10 PM Haven't seen any posts for this but for those of us in Canada I picked up my 67A750 from directbuy this morning so they do exist north of the border. :) moonhawk 05-24-08, 11:25 PM combien de loonies? :D N8DOGG 05-25-08, 12:40 AM Nice! I'll be picking up my 67A750 in the next 2 weeks here in winnipeg. What stands are you people using for this beast? missrunt 05-25-08, 12:46 AM Just wanted to say that we tried Stevenz's settings on our 67" and they really brought her to life. Everyone should try these with the 61-67 and see for themselves. We like it a lot, and the HD channels jump off the screen while HD DVD movies are sharp as tacks. Anyone having issues with green tint should be happy with this setting. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=13626675#post13626675 Peace MR Charles R 05-25-08, 01:03 AM Anyone having issues with green tint should be happy with this setting. How could these settings help with a green tint when they are upping green? Anyway I tried the settings and colors are extremely overblown and greenish (Amy's blonde hair looks green on Saturday Night Live). Teknomedic 05-25-08, 02:03 AM for those that want to know... I picked up the HL67A750 today before work... I'm at work now so I can't open the set or test it out yet... but at least I have some box measurements for you all... HL67A750 box size... W = 20.5" H = 46" L = 65.75" Not sure if I'd recommend transporting this flat... but others have done so with the smaller sets and been OK... but there's an increased risk of getting "dark spots" (which is dust, fuzz or styrofoam getting stuck to either the mirrors or screen) being displayed. I would think though that if you take it easy and slow on the way home you'd probably be OK, but just understand there's probably a higher risk of a mirror bouncing wrong and cracking. I'll do my best to report more the morning of the 25th (USA Central Time). Can someone provide me a link to some "good" settings to try both in and out of the service menu? Also... what's the latest firmware for the 67" and can someone provide a link yet? thanks, TK. missrunt 05-25-08, 02:40 AM How could these settings help with a green tint when they are upping green? Anyway I tried the settings and colors are extremely overblown and greenish (Amy's blonde hair looks green on Saturday Night Live). You might have issues with something other than these settings. The gamma and white settings did wonders for our slight green tint. I doubt there is much difference with the 61-67...just stating the facts when looking at our 67". We're spoiled to double stacked Barco's @ 120" BTW ;) Peace MR AdamWL 05-25-08, 03:18 AM 60 DAY HDTV PRICE GUARANTEE: BUY IT TODAY WITH CONFIDENCE thru May 31. I'm off to Best Buy tomorrow (later today) to wheel and deal. Let's see how much they really want to sell these units. Man-Fai Wong 05-25-08, 03:32 AM AdamWL, You mentioned you're in the NYC area. If you're successful, please also report back on which Best Buy you got it done at. I looked at the site for in-store pickups (to get an idea which one might actually have these sets on display), but couldn't find a single one in the NYC area for that. Closest one seems to be in NJ, and I'm not sure it makes sense to trek out there to try to wheel and deal for a (61") set. Thanks. _Man_ AdamWL 05-25-08, 03:52 AM AdamWL, You mentioned you're in the NYC area. If you're successful, please also report back on which Best Buy you got it done at. Thanks. _Man_ I went to the Patchogue store on LI, just off of Sunrise Highway. They've had the 61a750 on display for about four weeks now (they didn't get the 67s in yet). After mentioning it to them, they said that if there were any geometry issues, they would replace it until you got one that you were happy with. I'd call around to some other LI stores to see if they have them on display. It appears that your mileage will vary on them agreeing to price matches that aren't local/regional B&Ms. But I was told its all up to the manager you speak with. Get the 67" there are no GEO issues!!! These are disposable TV's with great PQ! They filter from south to north hence being made in Mexico. BTW: CC has a 60 day match on prices if you talk to the salesman nice. I'm pretty sure we're the first to have one and talk about it on here. 8 days and counting without fail ;) All this fuss over a TV blows my mind! This TV business had distracted me way too much. I've had a geometry problem 61a750 sitting in my living room for the past 3-weeks waiting for the Internet dealer to send a truck and pick it up. You'll be glad you did, and this set is way better than the flimsy 61! Peace MR Teknomedic 05-25-08, 04:28 AM Oh... I will, lol. ...but mostly I'll just exchange it at BB since that's where I picked it up from. Basically the plastic "straps" have dug into the box and there are scrunches on about half of the corners... and it's missing one of those plastic box holders near the bottom of the box. I saw this when the BB guy rolled it out to me, but I didn't say anything since this was shipped from the warehouse and I know my store doesn't have any others to exchange with right now... but I'll start the exchange process if I find anything wrong with it when I open the box. ... I know nearly all the BB customer service people by first name... and they know me as well. lol. ;) The 67" are much better builds than the 61..you'll be fine.
