I'm looking at getting an Oppo to go with my Vizio GV42 1080p, but one major use for my current dvd player (old standard Toshiba) is watching football games for the semi-pro and high school teams that I work with and correcting stats. The Toshiba works great for this and has several different speeds and will slow motion in both forward and reverse.
Do any of the oppo's have a similar feature and which would be the best for that as well as upscaling with my tv.
I'd like to get the oppo but don't want to have to keep the old unit for reviewing stats only. Hopefully the oppo has that feature and it works well from the remote (or my Harmony 880).

It would certainly work well. The Oppo 980 has the same feature and is cheaper: $169 vs $229.
