just got a mits hd1000, going to use in my downstairs family room, I will probably keep the pj on a table. I used to have a pj before my first child and had it mounted on our ceiling which is 8ft. The only problem is since it is a downstairs room there is no way I could wire the ceiling since there was another room just above it. so i ran wires along the walls and use cable covers i got from home depot, it did its job but looked horrible on my ceiling. is going the table rout going to be fine with this pj since there is no lens shift?

My HD70 sat on a table in my last place. Ceiling or wall mount if you can, but table mounting will do the job
Table mounting will work ok - you *do* have the issue of keeping it clean/avoiding spillage or debris. The lens shift should be no issue -- you may just have to experiment with the table or screen height a bit.
the issue of keeping it clean/avoiding spillage or debris.Yeah ... it will "work" just fine!
BUT, in addition to:
keeping it clean and
spilling beer into it you have to deal with:
tripping over the cables/power cord
continuous re-focusing
continuous re-positioning
people walking through beam at the STUPIDEST times
noise
glareAnd you'd better not have any kids or cats.

lol...I had my HD70 on an a/v stand. Never had to do anything more than I did with my SP4805 wall mounted

This is the route I'm taking when we move to our next home in April. I've been ceiling mounting for 5 years now and I want a change of pace because I have a Da-Lite High Power screen and want to take advantage of it's brightness. Therefore I've bought a Sonax audio/video stand which will be perfect for housing the projector as well as other equipment. I'm going to place the stand behind the couch we'll be sitting on to view the screen. I think it'll be easier to do adjustments and I also like the idea of not having holes in the ceiling.
