Hope ive posted int eh correct area :) Just after a little help if i could. I'll try to explain it as best i can

I have a pioneer dvd player running into a Yamaha rxv-496 amp to philips lcd tv.

I bought a new entertainment unit yesterday and while reconnecting everything back up i realised that im watchin dvd's though RCA video cables even though i have an S-Video AND Optical cable connected too.

Basically i had no RCA video cable connected firstly but had both the optical video cable and Svideo cable and had no picture. (there is a switch on the back of the DVD to choose which cable to use, nothing happened either way)
The only way i can get a picture is by using the standard RCA plugs.

If i remember right at the moment i have Svideo from the dvd to Svideo on the amp (DVD/LD), and also Optical Out on the dvd to Optical IN on the amplifier.

I then use the MONITOR OUT on the amp via s-video cable to SVideo in on the side of the tv.

Going by the manual i have everything correct....now why the heck isnt it working . I only get pic when the rca video plug is used! If i disconnect the svideo plugs and optical out plugs while the rca is connected, nothing happens, so it seems like they are doing nothing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
