I know that this is an older unit @2000/2001 but;
Anyone have one of these still in use and if so does anyone have any past issues with the ribbon cable on the pickup working loose over time and resulting in break up of signal or disk load errors? I have had this unit apart now twice over the years and first reseated the connector, which worked for a year or so, second glued it in place with hot glue which worked up until yesterday. My understanding is at one time Onkyo fixed this loose ribbon cable problem for free out of warranty by installing a longer cable with a revised connector. Anyone have any experience with this?
1-8-08, Well either no one has had one of these or no one believes in holding onto a classic. Spent 45 minutes last night with the old screwdriver and hot glue gun and its back in business. I use this mostly for music, It still has an awesome sound and not too bad on the DVD end. i still find it amazing that Onkyo let these leave the factory back then when its such a simple thing to fix.
