Did a search, but couldn't find any relevant discussion. So create a new thread for HC4900 owners sharing their HTPC settings.
My video card is an All-in-Wonder X800XL, and the HC4900 is connected via DVI as a second display (first display is a Sharp 19" LCD TV at 1360x768). The HC4900 is set at 1920x1080 and 32 bit color, and the resolution was confirmed in the "information" menu of the projector.
The overall text display is very sharp, however video and graphic looks not as good as AE900 at 720p. The HC4900 is a bit more "mosaic" than the AE900. I have PowerDVD and MCE 2005. Tried to dial down the sharpness, which helps a bit but not much. HD DVD on Toshiba A3 looks very good, with smooth and clear pictures. The screen is Dalite Hi-Power.
The HC4900 is excellent when connecting TV source and HD DVD, where I like it better than my old AE900. I wish I can get great pictures out of computer too and am looking forward to some success stories here.
