Hi CRT gurus.
I need your advice. I spend 2 days researching what product is better then anther and got tired from BS on line. I have Barco 808 which is suppose to produce 1080i. So I would like to get the best image out of it as passable.
Question: #1 What is the best screen for the money is out there for CRT ( I know the Stewart consider best in the market. Is it really I must spend 2gs to get noticeable difference? is Caranda or Da-Lite that bad?)
#2 I think to connect all my signals (Time Werner Cable, PS3, and HDDVD to my ONKYO TX-NR905 via HDMI and then from reviser to the Barko or it will be better to get KEY DIGITAL SYSTEMS HD HANNA KD-FIRE1080P and use it between reviser and Barko is it worth the money consider that ONKYO TX-NR905 das conversion?
Please advice on this 2 problems.

I'll take #1 first. I built my first screen from a sheet of Parkland Plastics material (special ordered the 5'x10' piece from them directly and cut it down to 16:9 aspect ratio). I was in under $200 all told, and the picture was very good.

Now, I'm considering a Stewart for my next screen (new house; old screen was in apartment and not dedicated space) because I want an acoustically transparent screen to hide all the speakers.

I've never heard of anyone badmouth Stewart, but I've also heard very good reviews of SMX, DaLite, Carada, etc. If you want a solid (non-AT) screen, you can also quite easily do-it-yourself. I'd recommend spending some time reading the screen forums (that's how I learned how to do mine). You could easily spend $100-$150 for a DIY, and mine showed 968p (limited by my projector, not the screen) and 1080i just great.

either build your own or if your going to buy one, a Draper Clarion is a pretty nice screen for about $1k.

Please advice on this 2 problems. I would not send an analog video signal through or out from a receiver. Keep it HDMI all the way to the PJ and then use one of these http://www.curtpalme.com/HDFury.shtm

It is not that I am chip. I do not want to fill like a moron and spend 2k for something that gets me to same thing for 1K or less. I understand that no one will complain about Steward after they paid $2000. But do you think anther brands screens will perform noticeably bad?

So u suggesting use all: cable box, PS3 and HDDVD HDMI out to HDMI switcher like 1,2,3,4 input and have one HDMI going to Borco through that HDfury for video signal and use digital fiber optic for the receiver for sound?

Why not let the receiver do the HDMI switching? Then you won't need to connect any audio cables to the receiver. You should be able to connect all three sources to your Onkyo receiver via HDMI and then out to the projector. HDMI out --> long HDMI cable --> HD Fury --> Barco.
Set all your sources to 1080i and then you're good to go. I don't see any need for a scaler in this set-up. All your sources are HD (assuming the cable box is HD).

Yes it makes sense. I just was afraid to convert signal too many times: in reviser and then in the HD Fury. But thinking about it is a digital signal it should not be losing quality. Thanks for advice. I will try this magical HD Fury. Do you think I still will be needed Key digital scalier to enhance image? Or I will not get any better picture quality?

You are right that it is best not to convert a video signal more times than necessary. In this case it will only be converted once (at the HD Fury... digital to analog, right before the projector).

I think that Onkyo receiver has on board video scaling, and if you may want to disable it altogether. This is the case with my Denon (AVR-3808ci) and it looks best with the scaler off. In my case its 1080p in and 1080p out... no scaling. In your case it will be 1080i in and 1080i out.

If your sources are HD already then there is no need for the scaler.
