Hello. I just hooked up my Mits HC 1500 and my first impression is WOW! I had an Infocus X1 prior to getting this projector and am very satisfied with the picture so far. To get this good of a picture for so little money is amazing. I am currently building a dedicated HT in the basement and can't wait to get it finished. My screen will be a DIY Wilsonart Laminate approx. 100 " - 110".

Any tweaks I should know about?

Thanks

It's just a damn good unit. As long as you like the color, brightness and sharpness you don't need to do anything. I wouldn't waste money on a "professional" tweaking if you like it as it is, but most of us end up turning down the brightness or sharpness a bit as it really is a "light cannon". Depending on your dvd player, play with the 480i/480p/720p settings going to the projector to see whats best, but that's pretty much it. I went from a Benq6100 to this unit and it was amazing what you get for about $800. HDTV looks fantastic, even at 120".

Purists will scoff that you need to do a lot of changes but remember, it's your eyes, not theirs.

avsruby,

Hi I'm also using a WD white 106 screen, I made some tweaks to the colors only because I dont have a dedicated room and I get plenty of ambient light from windows and main door here's a lil sample of how good is gona look once you get your screen up.

Yes, the picture is quite good now on a piece of drywall I had laying around. Once you get used to a big screen it is hard to go down to our 42" plasma.

I was just curious how the HC1500 did on the laminate? Did you get Designer White?

And if so, was it too bright on the low setting?

I use my HC1500 on home depot DuAble laminate. Gain is around 1.0.

At first it was pretty bright then after 30 hours my bulb dimmed just a little and I would not want a darker screen. Flesh tones look very real also, good color.

I like the screen, had it for over 3 years. Of course Im sure you can buy something better but not for $12.
