I have a Infocus 4805 and when I run a source through it at 720p or 1080p the picture is about half as bright as when I run 480i\p or 1080i. I know that the 4805 can only produce 480p, but I was wanting to see how Blu-Ray would look on the projector as I have heard some good things. I am using component cable at the moment. Could this be the problem? Should I swap a HDMI to DVI cable?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone? I am running my PS3 through my SP4805. I can leave it at 1080i, but I would like to set it to 780p.

Odd, my 4805 does the same thing at 1080i but is normal in 720p. I've checked the cables on another display and they are fine...it has something to do with the 4805 itself.
I know it doesn't do you much good now but the calibrator who set-up my 4805 is coming back in late February to address the issue.
Thanks for replying. I have went through a Avia calibration disk and it worked well for the standard DVD, but when I am playing my PS3 at 720p it is really dark. I am ordering some HDMI cables so hopefully that will help.

I know that my venerable IF X1 needs to have different calibration settings for 720p/1080i than for 480i/p. It's possible that you will need to do this too.
I know it's a different PJ, but for me the X1 puts out a brighter pic with 720p/1080i sources, and I have to crank down the brightness...
Sounds like you're doing the same thing I am - still trying to get as much use out of the good ole PJ, until mechanical failure forces me to upgrade to an Acer or HD70...
:)
I would love to buy a new 1080p projector, but I just can force myself to get rid of one that is working quite well. I am guessing I will be like others and just run it till it dies.

In my case, I'm just cheap. Actually, I have 2 kids in daycare which is equivilent to purchasing one new Mits HC1500 or HD70 every two weeks! Once those costs go down (my daughter starts school next September), I'll take the plunge and upgrade from the IF 4805. Either that or I'll try to find a phenomenal deal on a used projector with low hours
FYI -- the IF 4805 still works as good or better than most 720p projectors on SD DVD's and does an admirable job with HD content. I can live with it for the time being.
