My good old Sony CRT RPTV just died (after many years of service), and it's football playoff season! My tv is placed in a corner, so not spending extra for a flat screen is an easy decision, so it's a RPTV.
I had my heart set on a Sony KDS-55A3000 until I saw that Sony's out of the rptv market, and until I read so many scary things about "purple blacks", "green blobs", and class actions. I don't know if those things aply to the A3000 or not.
So now I'm thinking about DLP again, and the new Samsung HL-T5087S (120 Hz). I'm such a novice, and I need some help with this choice. The best deals I found are $1700 for the 60A3000 (might be a bit too big for the space), $1650 for the 55A3000, and $1500 for the 50" Samsung (to bad there's no 56" in the new line). The 60" Sony for $50 more is very enticing.
Which would you choose? Which is the better technology? Please help!
