I need some help. Don't come to this forum ever ... because I don't own a Mits RPTV. But I've just come from a friend of mine's and he has a MITWS55413. He's switching two component sources (DVD and Comcast) through a Yamaha YAMRXV1400 reciever. Problem is some young children may have changed some settings or turned some knobs ... but when he came home, all he gets now is a blue screen. Both the Comcast box and the DVD seem to be working, based on their respective LED displays.

I've seen his system. No matter what device I choose on the TV (Comp 1, Comp 2) or no matter how I set the switching on the Yamaha (by turning the input knob), the picture never changes. Just a solid blue screen. I haven't jiggled anything yet ... but after looking at the connections it all seems to be solid.

I know this isn't much info ... but if anyone has any idea what I might do to get this guy back in business, I'd appreciate the help.

Try connecting one of the components to one of the component cables and see if you get a picture. If you do not, it's probably something in the receiver.

You have component1, component2, DTV (which can be configured as a component input), and a DVI input (MonLink). See which input the cable from the receiver is currently connected to. If you are connected to DTV, go into Setup, Setup, Input Assignment, and make sure DTV is set to YPbPr.

If it works with the component plugged in directly, then check the cables on the receiver. Also check the various settings on the receiver. I don't have a Yamaha, so I not familiar with it.

If one input does not work, try another one. If none of the inputs work, there is an AV Reset button on the front of the TV. You may need to push it as a last resort.

Thanks for all that response. I want to try to avoid moving the TV. It's too close to a wall at this time to allow me to start replugging things. But my friend is aware that I may have to do that.

The receiver is feeding component out to the TV's component in. I can see that.

All along I have thought it was probably something in the receiver. And I knew I'd probably end up sending something directly to the TV as a test ... skipping the Yamaha.

That's probably what I'll do ... tomorrow. Is the AV reset button like a "return to default" button?

Are you supposed to be able to change the "source" of the TV by pressing the "device" button on the remote? That button is like a volume button ... but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I don't blame you for not wanting to move it. That TV weighs around 245 pounds.

Yes, the AV Reset puts the TV back to default.

I think you are referring to the Input button. It is to the left of the Channel button, and is the same type of button. It should cycle through the inputs. However, it will only cycle through inputs that have not been turned off. For instance, I have all but three of my inputs turned off, so it will only cycle through 3 of the inputs. You can check to see if they are turned off when you check to see if the DTV button is set up correctly. If he inputs are not turned off, and it will not cycle through them, I would try unplugging the TV for a few minutes. And if that does not work, do the AV Reset.
