Like the title said I have done a search for hours on the forum but just need a little advice on what T.V. set to possibly get.

Background info: My current Sammy DLP needed to have a problem fixed. Strange brown discoloration in the middle of the screen which runs horizontally across the screen. TV repair man shows up from BestBuy ( i baught the service plan) and has to replace most of the parts. Color Wheel, Bulb, and what ever else. Gets the "new" part and it was in worse condition than the parts in my TV. Reorders the part and the status is now National Back Order. Due to time frame the repair is taking I was awarded a replacement.

Current Info: Tomorrow I am going to best buy to return the TV and get a new one.. And I am torn between 3 sets.

2 DLP: Sammy HLT 5687s
Sony KDS 55a3000

1 LCD Sammy LNT 4669fx

I have done extensive search reading almost all the posts in the Sony and Samsung threads for their model tv.

Being that my DLP TV no longer has parts in existance should I stay with a DLP set and possibly have a future problem with the set no longer having parts.

OR get the LCD set which is a bit more but I have $2749 to work with.

I do own a PS3 and the TV set will mostly be used for this purpose and for TV viewing. I do have HD cable service which I watch all the time.

Problem is when I was in Best Buy before I got the official word I just did a quick 20min tour of the TV sets they had. I only looked at the DLP sets and the thing is they didn't look alot better then my old set minus the brown spot ofcourse. 1080i max res old set. The LCD's seem to have better color though..

So right now I am torn between these 3 sets currently and I haven't had ample time to research other sets. So if there are any sets out there I am not aware of currently.

Any additional help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The Sammy HLT has no colour wheel so should be a lot more reliable than your previous set. Some people (including me) find the LED lighting kind of bland, but that's a matter of taste.

The A3000 is an excellent TV. Sony is discontinuing them but that's for commercial reasons (they can make more money on flat-panels). Both the HLT and the LNT will not need replacement lamps but the Sony will.

If it was me I'd also include the "F" series JVC D-ILA.

I'd say these are all good choices and it's your decision which one looks best to you.
