I wont get too in depth, but I am 22 and still living at home, which un-fortunly means no dedicated HT room and my bedroom has to double as my HT space, but it also means very few bills to pay and when you have a decent paying job then you get to buy pretty nice toys at a young age :D

I have been into HT for about 7 years, it all started when I got my first Sony AVR and hooked up some old Advent speakers to it, I then added a sub, then surrounds, then nicer TV, ect. I am now in the process of upgrading all this “older” gear to new stuff. So far here is what I have, and an idea of what I plan to upgrade the older/crappier components to…

AVR: Onkyo 805

Front Speakers: Ascend 170 SE

Center Speakers: Nothing, Planning to get an Ascend Sierra-1

Surround Speakers: Crappy Sony's, Plan to get Ascend Sierra-1's to replace the 170 fronts and move the 170s to the back for surrounds.

Subwoofer: HSU VTF-3 MK3

CD Player: Sony CX400 (400 disc changer)

Display: Sony HS420 30" WS HDTV, not upgrading to an LCD until I move out.

DVD Player: Sony S360, Upgrading to maybe an Onkyo upconverting player or just waiting until Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drop more

Power Protection: Panamax 5100

Other: Sony VCR (ditching since I never use it) PS2, Sony 2100 Touch Screen Remote, Mini Fridge

Things are really finally coming together I think, I really just need to upgrade my front sound-stage with Sierra-1's, then move my 170s to the rear and get rid of the crappy Sony's. Then maybe upgrade my DVD player to something more current and I will be pretty happy with my setup for a few mouths at least haha. But I have upgraded my setup for low end to at least the higher end of mid range IMO. Here are some pictures of my setup. I know it's not much or crazy compared to some of the dedicated HT rooms on here, but that will come some day, Thanks for looking!

Any particular reason you went with monster cable?
That's a nice receiver with some good features. Too bad you don't have a hd transport to take advantages of the hd audio features, but I understand why you're waiting.
How are you managing the crossover between your speakers and you sub? Are you using receiver features or a crossover control on the sub?

That's pretty much exactly the same setup I had when I was your age. Flatscreen crt, 5.1, receiver, dvd player, sub. Btw if you ever move out into a apartment make sure you're on the ground level with that sub. :D

The monster cable's are all old, again from when I did not know better, I actually just received shipment of like 10 Monoprice cables today, so I will be getting rid of some, there are also a few RAM cables in there. And I use my receivers crossover for the sub.
