and then plays fine..goes back for about 30 seconds. Has happened 3 times today and have now turned it off

Any idea what to do? Where to start.... I have used it for 4 years with no real problems.

does it make and sounds or sound different when it does that? can you bring up the menus when it does that?

I believe there was no sound. I did not try to bring up the menu but I can try to do that today. It only lasts for 30 seconds. i look in the front and no light is coming out of the lens. Then it just kicks right back on....

Tampagal is back!

When the set goes black, do the fans shut off? Can you still get the test patterns when the image goes black?

You remember that :)

I tested:

Screen goes Black about 20 minute intervals

Fan stays on, No change in sound

I keep pushing Menu and when it does come up the cable comes back on then 2 seconds after the menu screen comes up.

I am not sure if that is bring it back or if it was just set to kick back on anyway.

Umm Rhonda, we're guys. We ALWAYS remember stuff like that. How many marriage proposals did you get via PM? LOL!

Anyways, if the menus and test patterns come up, I'd say you have a signal source issue rather than a problem with the projector. You're using a line doubler, right?

I'd get a new cable between the projector and your doubler/signal source, or try feeding a video or Svideo signal right into the projector. If the video or Svideo signal doesn't die, it again points to a cable/source problem.

Cheers!

Hey, I may be a pig, but at least I'm not ashamed to admit it, unlike you other 'cultured' guys around here...;)

well I almost got offended at that picture...almost :)

LOL

I found out that they hooked up a different DVD player with a Wii going into to it....

I changed that out first and will see if it makes a difference

Not sure why that would really make a change but I will see...

I am getting ready to purchase a new used crt this spring anyway so what is the next logical step for me after the 1271 that will show a huge difference and make a bang for the realistic buck :) ..I have a small DLP sony projector but the bulb has burned out twice so I will not be getting a new one of those...

Go with EM focusing. It will blow you away. Since you are used to the Sony, a G70 would fit the bill nicely, as long as it has good tubes. Anything from the NEC PG on up will be a lot sharper than the ES set that you have now.
