Unlike the HD-DVD group, the BDA offers advanced copyprotection in BD+, and will continue to update BD+ to stay one step ahead of the pirates and hackers. The HD-DVD group hates the rights of movie studios and openly promotes piracy not just by not having advanced copyprotection, but by supporting a pirate compatable format in CH-DVD.

The BDA group also respects the regional distribution rights of movie studios. The BDA understands how valuable regional distribution rights are to studios and protects them by including region locks. It is up to the studio whether or not they wish to waive these rights. Unlike the HD-DVD group which disrespects the regional distribution rights of studios by forcing region free discs onto studios.

The BDA loves the rights of HD-DVD exclusive studios more than the HD-DVD group does. The only choice for studios is to join the only group that works to protect the rights of the movie industry. The only choice is to join the BDA.

What about the rights of the consumer? Without us these Studios wouldn't have anyone to sell their products too.

Consumers should have the right to Fair Use and not be hampered by all the extra DRM that just gets in the way of legitimate use.

Do you think Software Pirates are going to be stopped by BD+? I think not (Ala Slysoft cracking BD+ within the first month of it's release)

What it is going to do is get in the way of my rights as a consumer to do what I want with the media I purchased.

don't give him the pleasure of arguing. He did this under a different user ID before and just did a huge job of purposefully antagonizing people throughout the thread

Consumers Fair Use rights should be respected. However, consumers often believe they have rights that they don\\\'t actually have.

For example, consumers still believe it is legal to make a \"backup copy\" of a movie they already own, but the courts have ruled it illegal numerous times.

Even the notice that appears before each movie tells them that making any kind of copy, whether for profit or non-profit is illegal.

Consumer Rights are upheld, the problem is that consumers don\'t know what their rights are.

The BDA care about the studios but don't care about their consumers, the HD-DVD don't care about the studios but do care about their consumers.

Regional distribution rights are a slap in the face to the consumer and are against the spirit of an open market. They are also one of the main reasons for piracy. Thankfully they will be gone in a few years as digital projection spreads.
