I have a Bose 5.1 system

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7867114&type=product&id=1142303272652

I also have a 10" Yamaha Sub, not sure on model but its less then a year old

*EDIT* I believe this is my sub

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7688987&type=product&id=1138083504371

not at home so cant check for sure

Now my questions are:

Which sub is better? When I hook up my speakers should I take them directly to the receiver (Yamaha RX-V661) or to the Bose sub then use the ribbon cable provided and hook that to receiver? Or is my Yamaha Sub a better choice and just ditch the Bose Sub?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that Bose's Accoustimass bass module is still awful, the lower end module uses 2 drivers and the upper end module uses 3 drivers, they are either 5 1/2 or 5 1/4 drivers. The last one I got my hands on and did freq sweeps on I think sound started fading out around 70hz.

Sorry about that, the Yamaha Sub or just about any sub really is better than Bose's bass module used with the Accoustimass series. As far as connecting, connect all speakers including your Yamaha sub directly to your receiver and ditch the bass module

run speaker wire to bose module, then out to speakers. set speakers to small. use yamaha sub for LFE channel. The bose sub, last I checked, was a passive sub that drew it's power from the reciever and filtered out the high freqs and sent them on to the sats.
