Hello. I own a Sony LCD XBR4 46" display. I love just how good movies look on that display. As much as I love the pq of my Panasonic S97, unfortunately it has a "out of sync" audio problem with the Sony LCD. I tried all the audio delay options of the S97 with no avail. I also have a PS3 but really hate how bad the regular DVDs pq is. So now I need a good dvd player but don't want to spend a fortune. What I basically need is a dvd player that will have a pq equal or better than the S97. As a matter of fact, I enjoy watching DVD with my S97 at 480p. I didn't like it that much the 720p or 1080p upconversion. Anyway, I read a lot of good stuff about the OPPO 981 but I am also considering the Sony DVP-N57P. Do you think the Sony DVD player will do at least the same good job the Panasonic S97 did? Thank you a lot!

Thank you. What I am afraid off is that since the OPPO uses (I think) the same chips as the Panasonic S97 is that what if with the OPPO I experience the same out of sync problem I am having with the Panasonic?

i think the oppo 981 and panny s97 (i have and use an s77-(and love it on my 108" screen), the sister player of the s97) use the same (or similar) faroudja deinterlacer, which may cause macroblocking on some dlp sets and pdps.

dont know what 2 say about sync issue, my s77 adjusts well, imo.

as your set is an lcd, u should be ok with any oppo player. pq wise at least.
