I was hoping some of you could provide some insight into my current situation.

I will be purchasing a Samsung 5064 for my folks, who happen to live in a different state than where I am located (so I can't actively help out). To date, they have never used or had experience with any sort of HDTV, much less a plasma tv. However, I know that they will appreciate the steps required to properly care for the tv – e.g., not abandoning the tv on a static screen. Unfortunately, my folks will not likely be amenable to running 200 hours worth of a break-in dvd or the like.

Being relatively new to the HDTV scene myself, I was just wondering if anyone could advise me as to what I should have my folks do when they get the panel. Should I inform them of the conditioning options (orbiter?) and how often they should run that? Should I attempt to have them run the break-in dvd? Should I advise them to focus their viewing on HD channels at the outset? Or can I advise them to just jump in and start watching whatever?

I guess my question ultimately boils down to: what is the least amount of steps/care that they have to exercise in order to appropriately condition the tv without getting burn-in?

Thanks much for any help.

Tell them to change the picture mode to "movie" or "cinema" or the like (the default picture settings always have the contrast set too high). Then, have them set the TV up so that content always fills the screen. I doubt they need to do anything more.
