Long time reader, first time poster so please be easy on me!

I just got an Onkyo 605 and with it having only two HDMI ports (all my components are HDMI/DVI) I had to get a switcher to hook everything up. I got the Monoprice 4x2 switcher, HDX-402 to be exact, but I'm having issues with a few of my components.

Xbox360 - I only get PCM coming out of the reciever when its hooked up via switcher. If I disconnect it and hook it up directly to the receiver I get DD just fine.

Panasonic BD-30 - I have it set to 24hz but when I pass via the switcher it goes out as 60hz. Also only getting PCM audio and not bitstreamed decoded DTS-MA/TrueHD at the reciever. Yes, I'm using a blu-ray with DTS-MA/TrueHD track. When it hook it up directly to the reciever, it all works fine, 24hz and bitstream audio.

Toshiba A30 - Same as above with the 24hz setting.

When I press Dispaly on the Onkyo it's recieving a 60hz signal from my players when hooked up via switcher. I also have a PS3 hooked up via the switcher and it works fine at 24hz. Here's what I've tried. I thought maybe the signal wasn't strong enough coming from the switcher so I tried a few things. Tried different cables, long and short without avail. I also tried all the ports on the switcher and I get the same results no matter which I use, in or out.

I'm totaly stumped, I've looked around to see if anyone has the same issue and I can't find anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried unplugging all of the other inputs to your switcher/splitter and isolating just one device to see if it behaves normally? The reason I ask is because I just got this switcher/splitter and I'm having odd problems as well. For me, I've got a Motorola HD DVR plugged into input 1 and an HTPC plugged into input 2. When my computer is turned off, I can watch TV via the HD DVR just fine. But when I boot up my computer, the DVR starts acting up. I get an HDCP error on my screen and after displaying a few seconds of video, the screen turns completely green.

What seems especially odd about this is that the DVR doesn't seem to have any problem being hooked up to the splitter/switcher if my computer is off, so the DVR doesn't seem to *really* have an issue with being hooked up to a switcher/splitter. And why does one input device (the DVR) even know about the existence / power status of a second device (the HTPC)?

At this point I'm thinking that this monoprice switcher/splitter has bugs, but I'm going to keep experimenting.

Well, I just went back to monoprice's website and, wouldn't you know, there are a lot of negative reviews for this switcher/splitter. I read a handful of reviews before buying it, but monoprice is clever. They sort the user reviews such that the positive reviews are first and the negative reviews are last! Meh. I just lost some respect for them with that. I'm probably going to see what my options are for returning this and may try buying a separate switcher and splitter boxes from them to see if things work better that way.

I tried the monoprice splitter and it did not work. Not sure about others, but that is my results. I have tried many monoprice pieces of equipment and have returned them all. Always some bug.. never seemed to work close to 100%.

I'm wondering if buying a separate 1x2 splitter and 4x1 switcher from them would work better than this "all in one" 4x2 solution.
