What's the minimal recommended viewing distance for a Pioneer 6010 KURO? I tend to like to be close, but I'm not sure if I got enough space in my room for the 6010.

ColdCase 01-09-08, 09:02 AM You can sit very close to the 6010 without SDE or video effects, so its a judgement call. The display's size kinda overwhelmes me at 6-8 feet. Its nice at 10 feet an is just right right at 12 or 14... but that's just me, and its just the size. The PQ of a good source is good at any distance, I think. mchung23 01-09-08, 09:29 AM From what I've read here and other online sites, around 12-14 feet would be ideal for a 60" That's not to say you can't sit closer though. I'm going to be about that range and am looking at the 60" pio or 58" panny as well. Dave_6 01-09-08, 09:38 AM Hmm. Ive been looking at this one or the 150FD for a while, but my couch is 9' to 10' from the TV. I wonder if the 60" really would be too big from that distance? fooit 01-09-08, 10:07 AM Hmm. Ive been looking at this one or the 150FD for a while, but my couch is 9' to 10' from the TV. I wonder if the 60" really would be too big from that distance? No - IMHO, it'll be perfect! John Mason 01-09-08, 10:33 AM Viewing distance for ~30-degree picture width, recommended for immersive HD viewing, is ~1.5 X diagonal or ~3X picture height. Assumes there's no screen defect visible at that distance. -- John The Master 01-09-08, 11:04 AM I'm at 7-8 feet with my 6010 and the pic looks great. With blu-ray content the PQ looks like a continuous-tone photograph. My experience with SD DVD depends on the quality of the underlying DVD. Some DVDs upscale beautifully and look near-BR quality. Others are not as good. Some look like crap, but they'd likely look like crap on any big-screen plasma. ShagnWagn 01-09-08, 12:35 PM Nice choice, I have the 6010 as well. It depends on your eyesight and how picky your are. I am very picky and have 20-10 vision with contacts. If I sit any closer than ' (laying down with my feet under the tv), I can start to notice the pixels. For games on my HTPC with 1080p, I sit around 6' away. For movies and broadcast I sit around 8-14' away. Remember if you go wall-mount, the TV will give you another foot or so distance depending on what you are upgrading from. I gained about 22" of viewing distance by eliminating my old entertainment center. swlee 01-09-08, 12:36 PM If you haven't already seen these, check out the "seating distance vs. resolution" info here: http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/hitech/1137/maxing-out-resolution.html And, this calculator for 1080p sets agrees: http://myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html Seems like 8-12 ft should be great for a 60" set. FWIW - I have a 6010, and we're sitting back about 10 ft. The view is stunning! Both my wife and I agree we're glad we went with 60" rather than 50". andyx1205 01-10-08, 01:29 AM I guess around 8 feet would be a good position. I most particularly want to sit as close as I can because I hear that in order to actually see the difference between 1080P and 720P you would need to be close, and of course, the limitness of my room. Your links are broke. :p I would have included the links that were broke for reference but spam blocker stuff prevents me because apparently I suck if I don't have 3 or more posts. lol swlee 01-10-08, 02:42 AM Your links are broke. :p I would have included the links that were broke for reference but spam blocker stuff prevents me because apparently I suck if I don't have 3 or more posts. lol Sorry! I've edited them in my original post, and they seem to be working now. CraigSharrow 01-28-08, 01:05 PM I've got ours at 9'6" from eyeballs and it's fine at that distance for our tastes. pisay87 01-28-08, 02:12 PM I have a 150FD and viewing distance is about 9-10 feet. Perfect for me. ccotenj 01-28-08, 02:32 PM I have a 150FD and viewing distance is about 9-10 feet. Perfect for me. +1... sometimes i move even closer... russwong 01-28-08, 02:42 PM I sit 7' to 10' away from a 150FD. Deathwish238 01-28-08, 03:49 PM 60 * 1.5 / 12 = 7' 6". That is optimal. 60 * 2 / 12 = 12' 6". That is the furthest away you should sit. |
