I asked if there would be a price break for just the wedges (no engraving, etc.) and they said they'd offer $5 off the list price. Anyhow, I just wondered if anybody here might've used them already (did a search and didn't find any listings) or if there's any reason I shouldn't . . .

I'm looking into crystal wedges myself and what I found out after some research that people either go for the Massilon Plaque or the Crystal Factory wedges.
Why don't you check them out. I think they have somewhat better prices considering they both have bigger wedges than Trophy awards.

Thanks for the info. I just e-mailed Massillon for prices. From the prices listed at Crystal Factory, though, they do look to be a bit more expensive than the Trophy Awards wedges. Will I really need them to be that big, or would the 3"x5" size from TA work? Those would be $34 each for two . . .

Your welcome :)

Well it all depends on what type of beam the projector is throwing. You need to do the paper test to see how large an image is being projected on to a white sheet of paper about 6-8" away from the projector. If it is about 3" then your good to go, otherwise you'll have to go with a bigger set of prisms mainly the 4 x 6.

Steve - I realize that. It's the wording that seems very odd: "awards and trophies" "logo and text".
Maybe she was telling us that in addition to glass prisms, the company also sells prisms as awards/trophies.

How do your older prisms compare to crystal prisms Mark
By 'crystal' are you referring to the prisms in the MK1 and 2 or MK3.

The prisms used in the MK1 and 2 were made from BK7 (AKA K9) optical glass, but they are not finished to a commercial optical finish like SD60/40.

The MK2 prisms had an anti-reflective coating, but this was not a true broadband optical coating, though it did reduce reflections, it was not as good as a proper optical coating.

The prisms used in the Mk3 were both finished to an optical grade as well as being made from two different optical glass types for CA correction as well as having 400~700um coatings.

The MK3 prisms were superior in every way, but they pushed the price of the lens to almost 6x the cost of the original MK1.
