About to get a th-50pz77u here and am wondering how NTSC content
looks on your th-50pz77u or th-42pz77u. Mainly videotapes, some
analog cable here. I'm wondering if going as big as 50" will be a problem with this low quality content. Thanks:)

MMmmm....depends.

I have a S-VHS VCR connected up to my AVR via S-video, then from the AVR to the TH-50PZ77U via HDMI.

I've watched a couple of store bought boxed VHS movies (like Ben Hur) and the PQ is acceptable...not great. I can definitely see that the PQ is not nearly as sharp as HD content or even SD DVD/480i - which, depending on the DVD is actually really good!

VHS tapes, if they are 'high quality' (is that an oxymoron - high quality VHS?), then I think they are watchable, but you will instantly know you are watching VHS on an HD.

Not sure about analog cable though.

I do remember watching the Wizard of Oz before Xmas on TBS (SD not HD) and was pleasantly surprised at the decent PQ - better than expected and noticably better than what I can get on my S-VHS.

Your results may vary,
