I am in the process of wiring my wall & mount my HDTV.
The question is to future proof (as much as possible) - for me currently & prospective house buyers in the future -
what cable or cables should I have running out of the wall from the TV into a AVR?
1 HDMI v1.3? more than 1 HDMI cable?
And/Or?
add a set components in there too?
The [rack] would contain: AVR,Cable/DishBox/TiVo, HDMI DVD player, & game console
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm not the best at organization but I felt compelled to reply since I just got done pulling more wire to the basement through a small hole.
If your AVR is going to do all the switching then I would just run what you need for now. HDMI 1.3a out. You might want to run an antenna cable, if you have an antenna, as well to the TV just in case the sat/cable goes out.
Main thing is make sure you have a way to get cable from point a to point b if you need to in the future. Get some large diamater conduit for future runs so you don't have to worry about it. Learn from my mistakes. :)

Thanks Mike, I actually thought the same. So 2 cables huh?
HDMI & Antenna.
No component?
Well its definitely not going to hurt to run more cable.
I'm assuming your receiver has hdmi/component switching and will switch all of the components you listed.
Are there any other tvs that this equipment will ever feed? Do you need to consider future locations that you want this equiment to be the source for?

No to the last 2 questions.
Thanks for the ideas.
Spend your time and money on conduit versus cabling. Make it big and/or install more than one. Very difficult to predict needs for the next ten plus years, especially someone else’s needs. (Think about what cables WEREN’T necessary ten years ago. :))

Yeah, a conduit would be nice Smurf preferably IMO.
Anyhow any thoughts on 1.3 HDMI or plain ole HDMI?
