What kind of experiences do you guys usually have when purchasing theater seating when you don't purchase the floor model? I just had the absolute worst experience ever. I made the purchase on September 1st, and it was finally delivered today. That's 4 months of waiting. Plus a request for some hardware for the seat I knew I needed which was placed at the very beginning of December and the salesman still hasn't ordered it. Is this a typical experience when ordering furniture?

Bought mine at Costco and watched a movie in them 3 hours after the purchase
Usually there is a long lead time for most furniture if it's a custom order. 4 months is a little on the long side, but not amazingly so - that'll depend on the manufacturer etc. and the Holidays likely didn't help you. I'd guess 3 months is more of an "average" for stuff we've ordered...
The salesman still not having ordered the extra hardware is inexcusable though & is a problem with the furniture store.

Did you special order the theater seating? Normal Special order for seats is 4-7 weeks. If it makes you feel better I just got my wheels in that I order for my car that were ordered in April!

When I made the purchase the furniture store said 60-90 days. I checked the Klaussner's website and they had this in their "about us" section:
"From the beginning, Klaussner has prided itself in its quick delivery and custom order capabilities. The company can guarantee delivery of most of its product selections within a two to four week period."
I have sent them several e-mails questioning why it was taking so long, and have yet to get a reply from them. The first e-mail was sent a month ago. The couch wasn't custom, just something out of their catalog but not in stock at the furniture shop.

Wow, that's crazy. What time frame did they give you for those wheels originally?

I finally decided to skip leather and go with the microfiber. It seems very durable and soft.
I was at an Ashley furniture store after Thanksgiving and noticed some that were 3 inches wider and fully reclined without hitting the wall. I got 6 of them for 1200 dollars. It was a great sale, plus another 9% off just for having a salesman problem. I did not even ask for it.
They were ready for delivery within hours. But I have it on hold til the house is done.
Just don't expect anything from Ashley to last very long. They are very cheaply constructed. We bought a sofa/loveseat from their "higher end" stuff some months ago. It will be okay for a few years...their HT stuff wasn't any better constructed, as we pondered that approach. Ended up w/ Berkline from Ultimate Home Theater instead. Great price and service.

Pretty much the same thing for me. I looked at the Ashley HT seats, but they use some pretty cheap parts and are not particularly well constructed.
Like MTBDOC I ended up with Berklines, but from Serge at Home Theater Authority.
I don't think you can go wrong with either Serge or Roman (Ultimate Home Theater).
