I know I will eventually have to have an electrician do the work, and they will know local code best, but . . .

The area in my basement where I want to build my media room has the home's circuit panel box mounted proud of a block wall (approx 10 feet to the left of where I will put the screen). I want to build and mount permanently a box on the wall to cover the breaker panel, with a door from which movie posters can be displayed. The bottom of the display box will be approximately 4 feet above the floor and will be 41 x 27 x 8.

Does anyone know if typical code would allow a new circuit to be added to the box covering the panel?? I'd like to have a few outlets in the board that is parallel to the floor to power the a/v equipment which will be housed on a shelf system directly below the box.

Clarence (see the CRT thread here where he hangs out) documented his theater build and he covered his panel with a homemade back-lit poster frame. I also know that he had it inspected for code.
