As I understand it, One should be sending a black screen from the source to set this. Would something like the black in between the flashes of racing at the beginning of Cars be a good source?

Also Do I set it by looking at the tube or screen? ( it is to be set to just under where one can see the phosphor glow, right?

ok so that was two questions, sorry. ;-)

Thanks!!

I always set it by showing a black field (either from Avia or DVE DVDs) and looking into the tube face and adjusting G2 until the raster just started to glow.

After getting a colorimeter, I started with the above, then went between a 30IRE and 80IRE field, adjusting both G2 and gain for each gun, until I got the right color at both ends (30 and 80IRE). Technically, this is the right way to do it as adjusting G2 directly effects color temperature. I always just eyeballed it until I got the tools though. If the color looks noticeably "off" in dark scenes, you can adjust G2's to fix it.

There is also something else involved in many projectors. Like setting brightness to mid position, contrast to zero. Also disabling abl in some projectors. Some have leds for G2 adjustments, etc.

So you need to specify projector.

Dwin 700 Currently. I know where the G2 controls are but needed an idea on how to get it done as close to correct ( with out proper measuring equipment.)
