Hello everyone,

First time poster. Been lurking for awhile. Am putting the finish touches on plans for my first pvr. All of the information on this site has been very helpful. Thanks to everyone.

Anyway, here is my question: Since the opening in my a/v rack is 18 inches wide and about 6.5 inches high, I’ve settled on the nMediapc HTPC 100 case because it is one of the few narrow cases out there. Using this case leaves me about 1.5 inches clearance on either side of the case. Front and back of the rack are open and there is about 5-6 inches between the back of the pvr and the wall. The case has one 60MM rear fan.

Do you for see any problems with cooling? If cooling is going to be an issue, I can go with another case, I just won’t be able to show it off in the rack! Or are there other solutions to cool that case?

Here is what I’m planning component wise, you’ll need that to weigh in on my question. Plus, any opinion on components is appreciated.

Case: nMediapc HTPC 100. Decent looking case, but most important, it fits in my rack.

PSU – nMediapc 300 watt unit

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H – It had great reviews and all the connections I needed, including optical, integrated video and HDMI.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2.1 GHz AM2

RAM: A-Data 2GB (2x1 GB) DDR2 800

Hard Drive: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA – picked this one cuz it is quiet

OS - Microsoft Windows XP Professional With SP2C – seems solid, plus this will act as a PC to do email, surf the net, etc.

PVR software – GB-PVR; it’s free! Beyond TV is my fallback

Capture card - WinTV-HVR-1600; works with both brands of PVR software I’m looking at.

DVD/Optical drive - SAMSUNG Black SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe – OEM SH-S203N – ok for now until the Blu-ray/HD-DVR wars shake out.

Keyboard/Mouse - Gyration GC1105CKM

This will be hooked up to an Onkyo HTIB and a Toshiba Regza 42” LCD. I will likely go with Direct TV for HD service.

Thanks in advance!
