Hey guys, I am using just a coax cable directly to my TV (Sharp Aquas) and after doing a channel search it came up with a bunch of digital sub channels 66.1 66.2 and so on. The Digital ones that are not HD work fine with sound and all. But the few HD ones that it found look great but have no sound. Can anyone help with this? The sound does not come out of the TV speakers nor do they come out of my surround system that is hooked up with normal Red and white AV cables from TV to receiver.
If no sugestions should I just go get some Anttenas for Over the air HD or am i mistaken to think my TV should already have that built in?
Thanks in advanced!
You only need one antenna and it will not be built into the TV.
Which cable HD channels don't have sound? If they're broadcast stations then something is wrong. Otherwise they may be stations that the cable company does not intend for you to get and those sometimes don't have audio.

Oh they are Leafs TV HD and Discovery HD. Those seem to be the only HD channels I get via the cable. So your saying I probably just don't get the sound because i'm not meant to get the channel that way?

It is possibly because the digital channels do not broadcast in the sound in analog stereo and therfore your TV is not outputting them.
Do you get the sound on the TV's speakers if you are not trying to output the sound via the anlaog outputs?

Am I correct that you are on cable and are not getting "HD cable" channels audio ? Check with your cable company, and I would not be surprised that they require a HD STB from them to fully receive your HD cable channels.

I agree with the above post at times channels that should be scrambled (such as DiscHD) will appear without sound. The channels that should come in clear are your locad HD and broadcast digital channels. I was lucky for a year I was able to receive TNT but after the recent Comcast channel additions it is now scrambled.

No digital station has "analog" audio; that's antithetical to the digital push. All OTA digital and QAM cable digital streams use Dolby Digital audio, which your TV would have to have a decoder for (if it has an ATSC decoder, it's a compulsory part of the standard). If there's no audio, either it's having some problem decoding 5.1 (maybe?) streams, or there's something else funny going on...
