I am interested in having the ability to watch over the air broadcast television when I park my car. Just yesterday I got a Sprint Mobile Broadband Card (Novatel Wireless Merlin S720). I can think of at least three options right now:

-buy a portable TV with an ATSC tuner

-install an ATSC TV tuner in the computer

-remote access via EVDO with Sling, Orb, or a a similar application

However, the IT folks at work will not want me to install software on their computer. So that rules out either installing a tuner or remote access, unless anyone knows of an application that will not require me to add software to the laptop computer. If it is simply web access like I can do with XM Radio online or Sirius Radio online I would be all set. Also, if I were to find a remote access that would not require software on the laptop, would typical EVDO speeds support an application like this?

Streaming any kind of decent looking video over EVDO is iffy.

Your only choice is a portable TV - not many available yet - you'll need to do some searching.

I am actually most interested in hearing the audio. Does anybody know how difficult it would be to stream the audio from a TV at home over the web?

Seems to be a lot of work for that - you'd need to split out the audio after the tuner and then put that into some kind of device for streaming. Portable TVs with ATSC tuners should be available soon enough.

Too bad you can't install any software. ATSC tuner "sticks" are just a little larger than a thumb drive and work great.

If the audio is all you're interested in, you could always get an ATSC STB tuner and a power inverter, then run the audio to the iPod jack on your car stereo (or use an rf modulator or cassette adapter). Thing is, without the video, tuning could be interesting. You could add a portable DVD player to the mix. One that would display an external video signal. Then, again, I'm the kind of guy who'll wire up so much stuff in my car I'm a rolling lightning target.

Someone on another forum had suggested using a jump drive for the USB TV software, but I don't think that would work.
