I have the VIP 722 with E* and just went with Vonage this week. I looked at the homeplug units for Ethernet connection through the electricity to connect it this way, but it looks like I would be in for a $100 to save $5 a month. Will the remote phone jacks work with Vonage? My Vonage router is on the 2nd story on the opposite side of the house. A cable is not an option.

thanks

Are you able to unplug the phone company from the outside box and then plug the vonage into a phone jack to activate all the jacks in your house? I did that with mine and it works great and I have all the jacks live with the vonage line.

do i need to have my internet router at that same spot? the phone lines come into the basement, i have my dsl router, wireless router, vonage in room on the 2nd floor. i guess i could put it all in the basement, then get a wireless adapter for my upstairs pc?

AbeFrohman,

I think a set of remote phone jacks that are satellite "rated" would work with a Vonage adapter. Of course, a set usually cost around $50. I have a set of Rat Shack ones that never worked with the satellite, but my brother has a set for his (not Rat Shack) and they have always worked. I bought my homeplug unit off E-bay for under $20 including shipping. You only need one, connected to the router.
Moving everything into the basement in order to use the house wiring would work, and a wireless card for your upstairs PC is only $20.
