Getting serious vocal sync issues on DirecTV during the pregame on both of my HR-20s... anyone else?

Audio sync is good but the studio pre-game show is not as clear and sharp as Fox's NFL coverage usually is.

The studio pregame was in SD, at least here, until about 5-10 minutes ago. Then, it switched to HD.

On second thought, the studio itself does look like it's 480p widescreen or whatever. The other HD program material is fine.

Quick score by the Seahawks after the fumble.

The Seahawks came to play today. Green Bay needs to stop fumbling the ball and have a TD scoring drive to get back into the game.

Was I the only one hoping for a hat trick on the fumbles during Green Bay's third drive? Not because I hate the Pack, but because it would have been funny. Oh well, they pull out the TD pass to Jennings for 6.

Has the hallmarks of a low bitrate Fox broadcast.

50 yard cams showing a lot of artifacts, dancing grass, (even before the snow started heavily). End zone cams (cable cam?) also showing heavy artifacts.

WJW-DT Cleveland, no subchannels. OTA as well as D* MPEG4 locals. Noticed the PQ problems first on my measly little home office 20" LCD, then went downstairs to verify on the big 50" 1080p plasma.

KMPH-DT in Bakersfield, CA (OTA).

Paule, on my broadcast the cable cam looks phenomenal, and the endzone cam looks great as well. The Field cam looks slightly worse, but that may be because of all the snow. Contrast looks great, with the Packers green jerseys against the snow. Haven't seen many artifacts yet.

So what are your thoughts on the way this broadcast team is set up with Tony Siragusa on the field vs in the booth?

I think it's kind of strange hearing the increase in the crowd noise when he cuts his mic on.

Also, I'm sure he'd have a better view from the booth, but I dont know how much that would help him. His analysis is on the generic side for the most part IMO.

Goose is always on the field and almost always in the back of the end zones.

Yeah, I know that. For me, this was the first time I noticed his mic being cut on and off by the GB crowd noise increase.

Watching now on XETV HD, San Diego, via TWC (STB HD8300HDC/HDMI/720p).

Field level cams look sharp, closeups sharp, stadium cams from full view don't have sharp edges - artifacting, some swimming grass.

I don't feel like Goose adds anything of real value to the broadcast, so it wouldn't bother me if he weren't in the stadium at all.

As far as the PQ of this broadcast, taking the snow into account, this is one of the best-looking Fox NFL broadcasts I've seen all season.

Man I wish it would snow here in Memphis.

WHBQ, OTA, no subs. Considering the elements, PQ not too bad. FOX sending up to 3 mbps more for the NFL than they did the BCS.

Even with the snow causing some macroblocking the PQ is still better then any NBC broadcast.

Who's the goofball who just dissed all us meteorologists? Hey, just because somewhat more than an inch fell, doesn't mean that none of us ever get the forecast right. Stick to football, bud!

Oh, yeah---snow bowl looks great on WFLD-DT Chicago and WQRF-DT Rockford, IL OTA.

Major props to the tech crew under VERY trying circumstances...

Oh, and AVS people told me that when you go digital, there's no more snow in the picture. What kind of crack web site is this? ;) ;) :D :D

I see the need to put the "Ball On: what yard line" due to the conditions. However, instead of using a lower third graphic I think it could be incorporated into the score bug for a cleaner look. Putting that information where the NFC Divisional logo is (where out of town scores are shown during the regular season) would leave the bottom of the screen lessed cluttered with more graphics pooping up.

I wonder if other folks observe what I observe (Mediacom cable HD signal sent to 720p Epson front projector via component video, 120" beautifully bright diagonal image)...in the past and today. What I'm talking about is a superior viewing experience on FOX's 720p NFL broadcasts, as opposed to CBS's 1080i NFL broadcasts...because of what I would call pixelation that occurs in the CBS presentations, specifically during close-up slow-motion instant replays. Anyone else out there see this?

Does your local CBS multicast? If not do they send the max bitrate for HD?

Our local CBS WREG multicasts and their HD looks terrible.

Samsung 720p front projector, Comcast HD signal via DVI, and the Packers game looked great, even in the snow.
In fact, the BCS game was the best Fox HD game I've ever seen....much better than the crap TB/Giants game.

I'm starting to believe FOX has the ability to produce the best NFL-HD, but they can't do it all the time.
WHY oh why the TB/Giants playoff game didn't get this HD attention is a mystery, however I expect today's Dallas/Giants game to be FOX's best.
Thank you
